Have you heard of Tieks? They're my new favourite thing. They're adorable, incredibly comfortable, and come in a dizzying amount of beautiful colours. Warning—it will take you hours to select which pair you are going to buy, and don't blame me if you end up buying more than one pair. After all, these flats will certainly become a staple in your wardrobe. These are my new must-have shoes.
I'm purse obsessed. You know how Carrie Bradshaw loved shoes? That's how I feel about a gorgeous bag. I mean, I started crying when I received a Fendi for my birthday several years ago. I get the same feeling of excitement every time I add a new purse to my collection. The thing about a nice, quality-made handbag is that it'll last for years. And years. (And years!) The purse I use almost every single day? My Louis Vuitton Speedy. It's been through everything with me. Since I'm a mom of two, you'll often find items belonging to my children in it, too.
I love Mother's Day, even though, in all reality, I think it's a day that should be treated like any other. I cherish the time I spend with my children, always—and I don't need a reminder to take time to do something nice for myself just because it's Mother's Day. At the same time... one Mother's Day I woke up to find two gifts for me from Tiffany & Co., one from each of my boys. It was a D and a C locket to put on my Tiffany & Co. bracelet, and I wear this bracelet every single day!
Guess what beauty products have been getting all the buzz in the makeup world recently? BB Creams!
From the pages of my favourite fashion magazines to the stores where I love shopping for cosmetics, BB creams (also known as Beauty Balms) are suddenly everywhere. I love anything that can help hydrate my skin while covering up any trouble spots while providing some great SPF protection.
There are about a million things I want to buy for spring, and every day that the snow stays on the ground, I add one more item to my shopping list in protest.
However, I don't want to break the bank when I go shopping for my new spring things, so I've come up with a list that can help you—and me—shop for great things without spending too much money!
I have to admit, I have a little problem. It starts with the letter S and ends in the letter E. And there are two letters in between, H and O. Yup, my problem, my addiction, my weakness?
I'm someone who loves make-up and all things fashion related, and I know a thing or two about when to spend more on beauty products, and when it's okay—in fact, better—to save money on certain products.
I shop for beauty products at Shoppers Drug Mart as often as I stock up at Sephora or at the beauty counters at department stores like Nordstrom and Holt Renfrew.
This past summer, when I was in New York City attending BlogHer, I found myself walking the streets of Fifth Avenue. As I was making my way towards my beloved Saks, I noticed a Joe Fresh store. Joe Fresh! The store we all love to shop at while we're stocking up on groceries? A stand-alone Joe Fresh store, filled with lovely clothes at incredibly amazing prices?
I go excited, as I often do when I'm shopping, and spent more money than I should have, but I digress...
I'm a pretty confident girl. I went through a "phase" in middle school, (oh, didn't we all?) but other than that, I've loved myself, faults and all, for as long as I can remember, even when I felt most alone. There are parts about my body I love, and parts about my body I wish were a little different, but overall, I wouldn't pay a single dollar to change what I was born with. Sure, I wear make-up, sure, I dress in things that suit my body, and sure, I go for a spray-tan if I'm hitting a beach in the middle of winter.
It may be the year of the emerald, but yellow has caught my eye and I'm seeing this colour pop up in all the stores!
Maybe it's because we're so close to spring that I'm looking forward to moving away from dark colours and embracing the bright, and maybe it's because I love sunshine, but right now, all I want to see is bright colour and sunshine wherever I look, and wherever I shop!
I'm craving yellow. And luckily, yellow is going to be everywhere this spring.
After a hot and sunny vacation in south Florida, I came back home ready for spring. With much sadness, I realized that all my wedge-heeled sandals and Tory Buch flip flops would not be worn again for a few more months. Yeah, we're still in winter mode in Canada, but that doesn't mean I can't share with you the looks I saw in fashionable south Florida, and at the Bal Harbour Shops, pretty much the fashion capital of America, and most definitely the place to be seen.
I know it's not yet February, but we're almost there. Winter has gone by quickly this year, and I have hardly even complained. Probably because I've finally figured out that dressing appropriately sure does help keep you warm!
My heart is full and my life is complete with my two children. I know I will not be having any more babies, even though I love them so much. However, every time I walk into babyGap, I'm not going to lie...my heart does a little flutter as I remember all the beautiful, lovely, baby clothes I used to buy for my boys. Of course, I still shop at Gap Kids for my boys, but nothing is as cute as the clothes they make for infants. And the girls section? Most adorable clothes I've ever seen!
You guys, I'm so excited! My favourite make-up company, MAC, is bringing my favourite comic book characters to life!
The legendary and oh-so-loved Betty (the beautiful blonde girl-next-door) and Veroncia, (the rich raven-haired temptress) who have been competing for Archie's heart for years, (and years and years) now have their own special make-up line at MAC!
I bought a blue Ralph Lauren dress to wear on New Year's Eve. That was the last big ticket item I'll be buying for some time. You see, I recently found out that my secure-until-I-retire job was no more. I was one of the thousands laid-off from the federal government. I received a package allowing me to stay in my office looking for a new job while getting paid, however, the date for me to leave is getting closer as the days go by.
If you know me, you know that summer is my favourite season, followed by summer, summer, and, oh yeah, summer! That's right, I'm a fan of June, July, and August. And although I do love the crisp air and beautiful colours that come with fall, I usually don't love the winter months, except during December.
We have all been affected by the terrible, unspeakable tragedy that took place last week in Newtown, Connecticut.
I, like many of you, have been holding my children tighter, thankful that they're in my arms, and I've been letting things go that might otherwise have irritated me. Toy alligator in the toilet, all the chocolate from the advent calendar for breakfast, little feet in my face when I wake up in the morning, and loud voices of children fighting upstairs? I welcome it, all of it.
As if I didn't already have 100 reasons to dislike the cold weather, the fact that I can't use my iphone to text, tweet, or make calls when I'm wearing gloves to stay warm and frostbite-free recently got added to my "Things To Not Love About Winter" list.
But now I can scratch that off my list, because I have found the perfect (warm, stylish, practical) pair of gloves that will also allow you to text and tweet without having to take them off!
I know it can be an overwhelming task, every single year. Picture card, or traditional holiday card? Horizontal, or vertical? Classic Santa or something more fun? From the wording of the card to the pictures and colour scheme, I personally take forever when I'm shopping for my holiday cards. Often times, I'll mix them up, because I have such a hard time making up my mind!
But one thing is certain: I love sending out holiday cards.
