3 Things

My daughter is now nine, and my tip is something that we've been doing since she was in daycare. Even now, all these years later, the conversation about her day always has the potential to elicit the same response. If all I ask her is, "How was your day?" her answer will always be, "Fine. Good. Ok."

So, we started a game where we each share three things about our day. No rules other than sharing three things about your daythey might be special or they might be ordinary, they might be good, bad, or somewhere in the middle. Our sharing three things is how we begin our after school, after camp, or after any activity conversation.

Because we've been doing it for so long, she usually jumps in the car ready to share and let me in on the details of her day.
