Mix 1 part vinegar with 4 parts water in a microwave safe bowl. Place inside microwave on high for 5 minutes. Let it cool without opening the door 10-15 minutes). The gunk in the microwave will be loosened.
You can then clean it up using the vinegar/water mix in the bowl.
