We have a laundry basket of mismatched socks that gets bigger by the day. I have found the best solution to keep socks in check!
I have a small, netted bag (the kind uses for delicates) that I hang in the closet door of each person. They put their socks in there, then I wash and dry them in the bag and all of the socks stay together until folding time.
It's not expensive and saves me a lot of time.
