At the beginning of every season I adopt a style that inspires me, be it a designers collection or a movie star, and this year I have chosen both to follow as my guide for spring 2010. Burberry Prosum was all about military chic for the warmer weather, showing neutral colors with military influences. The designs were feminine yet edgy- exactly my style! My choice for style icon? The new “it girl” Melanie Laurent, (who was most recently seen in Inglorious Bastards). I'm LOVING her french sophisticated style blended with vintage femininity. For my March issue of Under/Over, I have tried to exhibit items that have made my creative juices flow and pumped me up for spring. Hope it does the same for you!
Under
H&M Black Wedges ($29.95) - I love the silver zipper detail on these faux suede shoes and the wedge height is perfect for everyday! They would look great with short shorts, skirts, or capri's.

Winners Printed Skirt ($24.99) - There is a major skirt void in my wardrobe. I am never drawn to buying or wearing skirts, but this season I might take the plunge. This bright skirt from Winners would be perfect with a loose tank tucked into it and bloused out. So Kate Bosworth!

American Eagle Bracelet ($12.50) - This bracelet is so adorable and comes in a variety of fun colors. I would layer it with a bunch of them in a similar style for a boho chic look.

Gap Liberty Print Shirt ($39.99) - Liberty print is all the rage this season and I love the colors in this one. Worn with boyfriend jeans and wedge sandals an easy weekend look becomes polished and put together.

Aldo Zenon Bag ($60.00) - I need a bag that can hold all my stuff (read: keys, iPod, blackberry, toys for Evan, etc), and this bag would accommodate my needs perfectly. In the color of the season, nude, this bag is trendy, practical and well priced. I also love the lock detail.

Over
Cartier Knot Ring ($895.00) - Oh My Gosh I love this ring!!! It is both edgy and classic. Channeling a barb wire style, this ring is just what I never knew I needed!

Chloe Wedge ($640.00) - The color of these shoes is perfect! With a skin tone shade, the shoe would elongate legs and look great with dresses. A shoe lovers must have!

J Brand Cargo's($250.00) - Because my uniform consists of jeans and tee's, these pants would become a fresh alternative. I would pair them with a bright color or printed tank. Comfy and sexy, what could be better?

Michael Kors Watch ($250.00) - For the past 10 years I have worn the same classic watch, and frankly Im getting a little bored of it! This fun oversized gold watch would be a refreshing change and it's price wont break the bank.

Marc Jacobs Clutch ($290.00) - Purses make my heart flutter and clutches are my absolute favorite. The details on this one are amazing, with a gold lock and gold studs, this piece would spice up my spring wardrobe and add charm to my ever expanding bag collection.

I hope you love my March picks and as always I'm on the search for great finds, check back in April for more of my favorites!

While the actual Oscar presentation was a bit of a snore fest, the dresses worn by attending actresses saved the show! Spring trends were previewed at large as we got a sneak peak into what will be hot for 2010, exemplifying lots of nudes, grays and floral prints. With a few misses and a tanorexic honorable mention (SJP), most of the women donned designer gowns looking regal and current. However, I must say that I was bummed that my two new favorite french actresses, (were they even there?) Marion Cotillard and Melanie Laurent were MIA. I was really counting on them to bring some french chic to the show. Oh well, there's always next year.
Check out my choices below for the best and worst dresses worn at the 82nd Academy awards.
Best
Miley Cyrus in Jenny Packham- By far my favorite of the evening! The teen star dazzled in a cream bustier style dress looking age appropriate and glamorous! This dress was a great example of another strong trend for spring-the exposed lingerie look which I think she wore with style and grace.

Elizabeth Banks in Versace- The actress looked gorgeous in this gray strapless gown. I especially loved the jewel encrusted head band which accompanied the stunning dress. A winning combination.

Maggie Gyllenhaal in Dries Van Noten- Displaying a beautiful blue floral dress, the best actress nominee looked current and fresh in her laid back gown. Even though she didn't win the award, she certainly rocked the red carpet!

Kristen Stewart in Monique Lhullier- The Twilight star channeled “Bella” by wearing a midnight blue strapless gown. The actress stayed true to her personal dark style and still managed to look elegant and glam!

Demi Moore in Versace- In a nude strapless gown, the actress had every young woman saying “that's what I want to look like when I grow up”. The dress billowed as she walked giving off an ethereal glow to the statuesque beauty. There's that nude color palate again!

Rachel McAdam's in Elie Saab- The Canadian actress sported yet another floral gown looking stunning in the airy frock. It was a good choice in color, print, and cut, and deserves two thumbs up!

Worst
Zoe Saldana in Givenchy- The moment I saw this gown I gasped in horror. For an actress starring in a movie about preserving the world (Avatar), I was shocked to see a plethora of dead animal on the bottom of her dress. The dress looked like a mish mash of print, colour and fabric. I think this was the fashion disaster of the night!

Charlize Theron in Dior- Running a close second, Theron displayed rose targets on her breasts leaving watcher's wondering “what was she thinking?”. Quite a disappointment for this typically stunning starlit.

Sarah Jessica Parker in Chanel- Fire your stylist and rid of your tanning cream! This entire look was a flop right down to her unruly hairstyle! Carrie Bradshaw would be horrified!

With another Awards show come and gone and some very distinct hits and misses, I am left wondering were there any dresses worn that were really Oscar worthy? While the dresses were without a doubt beautiful, Im not convinced there were any unforgetable memory making looks. Am I wrong? Give me a shout out and let me know your thoughts....if your not too tired from your late night watching or YMC partying!
