Back To School Cool With The Promenade

August 31, 2010

It's time to put away the flip flops and sun hats and bring out the lunch bags and backpacks, it's that time of the year again – back to school! With a little help from “my mall” The Promenade, I have been able to find the coolest looks to make getting the little ones dressed less of a struggle.

I was recently named the “Fashion Guru” for the Promenade mall, meaning it is officially my job to know what each store carries and what the best styles are in each of them!

So.....here are my picks for the best in back to school trends and items all available at The Promenade.

Rock and Roll - We have seen a lot of this trend over the past year and I am happy to say that it is back and hotter than ever!  I'm loving this motorcycle jacket for girls available at The Children's Place.  Pair it with a mini skirt and boots and your little rocker will be ruling the school!

Plaid - Every kid looks adorable in plaid and it is a strong trend this season for both boys and girls. Check out this pink plaid jacket available at H&M for under $40.00.  This is a classic look that will be in style for years to come.

Denim - Denim is a school staple and this season we have tons of different style to choose from.  This jean shirt from The Gap is a great option for boy's who want to look cool and sophisticated.  Worn with cords or jeans, this is a must have wardrobe item for Fall.

Leopard Print - Seen on the runways of Milan and Paris, this classic print is a hit for both mom's and diva's in training.  This knit dress from Old Navy is right on trend in both color and style. When the weather drops, put a white long sleeve underneath to provide a little more coverage.  Try it with this seasons must have “combat” boot for an edgier look.

Varsity - Football season is right around the corner and to get in the spirit of the game dress your little linebacker in this double layered tee by Gymboree.  It's sure to score high points with sports fanatic tot's as it screams the jock look.

As sad as I am to say goodbye to our summer of cottaging and pool loitering, I am thrilled to get my daughter Evan back into the swing of things with the school year approaching.  With so many amazing choices for kids of all ages, getting them dressed and out the door can be one more thing crossed off every mom's back to school list!

Get With The Program At The Gap

August 24, 2010

Just in time for Fall, the brilliant people at The Gap have developed their own black pant program designed to fit every woman's lifestyle and body type. Each pant retails for under $70.00 and the quality is top notch for the price.

Styles include: the cropped cigarette pant, the boot cut, the boy fit, the curvy, the perfect trouser, and the skinny.  It is becoming more and more apparent that the trend is definitely moving away from denim and towards a  more chic “dressier” black pant look.  These pants are the perfect separate for the office, date night or casual function.
I personally can't wait to rock the boot cut with sky high stilettos and a flowy tucked in blouse for all my upcoming work functions.  I also love the cropped skinny with a polished pump and neat shirt for when I need to look corporate.

With so many great styles to choose from, there really is something for everyone especially if you are looking to break free from the denim mold of seasons past.

Each style is available at your nearest Gap store and are currently in stock.
