There's a reason why I will never win the Mother of the Year Award.
Actually there's many but this is last night's reason...
After dinner, Son No. 2 came bounding over to me with a smile on his face, enthusiasm eminating from every pore of his short, slightly dirty (when was the last time I bathed him?) body and gently tapped my leg. "Will you play a game wiff me Mummy?"
Was my first response a resounding and equally enthusiastic "Yes!" grabbing his chubby hand in mine to skip off happily and play board games, living in the moment and enjoying this special time with my youngest son?
Obviously you don't know me that well.
No. My response was "What game?" (Candyland) followed quickly by a furrowed brow and "Are you going to play the right way and follow the rules this time?" (yes).
Because I've gotten screwed over by the No Rules Candyland before and wasn't about to get sucked into that minefield again.
With the You Need To Follow the Rules rule firmly in place, I went off with him to play.
Then kicked his ass in two games.
In retrospect doing the "I am a winner and you are a loser" washing machine dance might have been a bit of overkill.

What do you mean you're no mommy of the year? Hardly! Any mom who can teach their kids the joys of winning and instill a little competition is a great mommy ;-) Bet he beats your ass next time. Now that will be a proud mommy moment.

I have endure the Candyland cheating and subsequent cheating discussion many a time... I'm a sucker though. I usually let her win, and yes, I have stacked the deck before.

Sounds just like something I would do to the kids especially with Candyland...LOL!!

I cringe every time I'm asked to play that boring game Candyland. Guess it's better than that other game though - Candida-land. That one's painful. ;)

HILARIOUS. I get the "Will you play wiff me" question daily, and always groan when it involves a board game. That gets me the "But its your JOB to play with me mommy!" We have the DORA version of Candyland - could it possibly get any worse?

I have such a hard time letting my daughter win...unless it's close to bedtime. I'll organize the cards so she gets the ice cream and lollipop and I get the candy cane. Fastest. Game. Ever.

Sharon came to work at the YMC as the Yummy Mummy Club Coordinator after winning Canada's Yummiest Mummy Contest, a contest based on creativity and not on parenting skills (*whew* wipe beads of sweat from brow).
After a year and a half of coordinating the ins and outs of the YMC while managing the chaotic life of being a stay at home mom to two boys, and even though you will find at least one spelling or grammar error in every single one of her blogs, Sharon was promoted to Editor.
