Red Carpet Fashion

With a Red Carpet event a little over a week away, I thought I would give a shout out to my all time favorite red carpet looks.  Over the years, these events have provided the ideal venue for celebs to show off their ultimate style and give a sneak peek into what the upcoming fashion season has to offer.  Many dresses have become iconic and have been duplicated over and over again by various designers, launching trends that would dominate the runway.  I can't wait to see what the 2011 awards show has to offer! Here is my homage to great Red Carpet gowns (and one white shirt).

Gwyneth Paltrow - In 2007 the starlet wore this Zac Posen gown starting a trend that transcended fashion and style.  The nude look became a hit over night and is a strong trend for this spring.  This gown was either a love it or hate it pick, but I personally think it is fab!

Michelle Williams- Infamous as a risk taker, William's chose this mustard yellow gown by Vera Wang to wear.  The color was an instant hit and showed itself on the spring runway of that year over and over.  I love how unpredictable this dress is and how she wore it with such confidence.

Hilary Swank - This “if you got it, flaunt it dress” is my personal all time favorite! Sexy and demure, designed by Guy Laroche in 2005, this gown shows off Swank's best feature (her buff back) without being too revealing.  In navy, this dress will always be a classic!

Sharon Stone- Perhaps one of the riskiest Red Carpet looks was Stones combo of her husband's white shirt and silk Vera Wang skirt.  In 1998, this look sparked a trend that was worn by bridesmaids everywhere!  With a chance that this style could go horribly wrong, Stone pulled it off by creating one of the best Hollywood looks of all time.

Jennifer Lopez - With many hits and misses (remember the infamous down to their Versace gown?) Lopez wowed the crowd with this Grecian style dress by Versace (2001). The muted color and sophisticate style flattered JLo impeccably placing her on the best dressed list!

Natalie Portman - My husband would actually leave me for this woman and in this Rodarte (2009) dress I can totally understand why. I love everything about this style. The color and design of this dress are stunning and her hair and makeup compliment it all so nicely. Two thumbs up for this stunning star and her incredible Red Carpet look.

I'm sure I will be glued to my TV checking out what will surely be a night of glam and style at the much anticipated red carpet event.  Stay tuned for this year's picks of my best and worst awards style!
