I have waited five long years to get a new one and the day is finally here! We are renovating our kitchen.
I should be dancing on my crappy fake wood counter. But I’m not. The ugly B word is getting in the way of my celebration.
Budget.
This is our Right Now House {rather than our Forever House} so, although I want my new kitchen to look like it belongs in the pages of a fancy magazine, I know it will not. It will be beautiful and more functional but it will also be completed on tight budget.
We are putting all of our focus and funds into new cabinets, counters, backsplash and hardware. We need new appliances and floors but those are going to have to wait. They aren’t in the budget. Sigh.
Here is where I put the before shots. The embarrassing, ugly before shots. These pictures were taken five years ago, when we first moved in. Anything is better than this, right?

Many posts about the Gunn Family Kitchen Reno to come. I hope you follow along as I blog the highs, the lows and the in-betweens of my first major home reno project!

We all have one. Some like them small, others like theirs huge. Some prefer them hanging to the left, hanging to the right, or right in the middle. How ever you like yours, here are some ideas to make it fit in to your space. You know I am talking televisions, right?
For those that like to let it all hang out:

{I know this one does not technically have a tv above it right now, but wouldn’t it be perfect?}

For those that like to hide it:

You can hide your television behind a piece of art from sites such as Vision Art Galleries. Luckily you can provide your own art because many of the choices are pretty, um, ugly.

How do you like yours: on display or hidden away?

Sarah Gunn loves interior design almost as much as she loves her two adorable boys and her hot husband.
She has had a vision her whole life of her dream house. You know. The mansion that sits on the ocean with a pool and the massive wrap around porch. And a butler. Then she grew up. Turns out life isn't a fairytale and she's not exactly living in a castle. In fact, her house is in constant need of design intervention. Little things like children, exhaustion and budgets get in the way.
But this story does have a happy ending: years of experience watching decorating shows and clipping ideas from her favourite design magazines have equipped Sarah with the mad decorating skills she needs to turn anyone's house into the home of their dreams with great tips, tricks and inspiration. So get out your colour swatches ladies and let’s do this!
Join Sarah each week as she shares ideas, inspiration and her favourite new décor finds...all on a budget every mummy will love.
