Part of being part of YummyMummyClub.ca includes sharing your experiences and expertise with other multi-tasking moms.
It’s our mandate is to provide an online destination for modern mothers to find stimulating, relevant, and fun articles that resonate with the woman in every mom. This is not a parenting how-to website, but rather a much-need online resource for surviving Motherhood while having some fun.
Two kinds of Yummy Articles we love…
First Person Experience
Okay; so you say you're not an expert. You haven't earned any degrees in "mom-ology." We don't care. Anyone who survives the first three months with a newborn is an expert in our eyes. Your story is the one we want to hear. Happy, sexy, terrifying or tiring, connect it to our monthly theme (see our Editorial Calendar [1]) and spin your yummy tale for us.
No, Really; I am an Expert
Perhaps you run a company, wrote a book, created a website, developed a product, discovered a secret, earned a degree, or are just tapped into the stream of parenting knowledge. You are a prime candidate to share your knowledge on the subject you're passionate about.
Here's what you should know:
Length
Short can be sweet, but sometimes there's more to say. At minimum, 400 words is acceptable. But we love longer think pieces, too! We've published articles in excess of 2000 words - just make every word count!
Tone
Parents who visit our site are often exhausted, overwhelmed, and under pressure. So, we need to keep the tone conversational. Don't worry about sounding smart. We already know you are. But at the same time, know that our readers are discerning and have a wealth of independent knowledge, so patronizing won't fly, either. Instead, entertain us with your amazing ability to share your story and ideas in an easy to read style reminiscent of Sex in the City—NOT Family Circle.
How to Submit
Once you've created your article, simply follow our easy submission process and you're done! Once you've registered as a user [2], you can submit your article here [3].
Who Owns What
If we choose to publish your article, it still belongs to you. But, by submitting it to Yummy Mummy Club, you allow us to republish it under the Yummy Mummy Club banner in other publications—but you will always have a writer’s credit. Note: We edit articles for grammar, spelling, and clarity, as well as assign headlines and images in some cases.
We do not currently pay for articles, but we do promote everyone who writes for us. So take advantage of the Yummy Mummy Club to share your story, your ideas and your website.
If you'd like to apply to be a regular paid contributor, apply here [4].
Before you Start
We don't want you to waste your time. Before you write, why not send a quick email to our Editor-in-Chief, Jeni Marinucci [5] and tell her what you're planning on submitting. She's actually quite nice, except when her children don't want to do their homework, and then we're all in big trouble.
What Should you Write About
Each month is a different theme relevant to yummy mummies' multi-tasking lives…Check out our Editorial Calendar [6]!
The Process: Once your article is loaded into our queue your article will get forwarded to our editors for consideration. Please note that your articles go through a several-step editorial process and not all submissions are accepted for publication.
Please note: We primarily accept original articles. While we aim to reply to all queries, volume sometimes gets the best of us. It can take up to 3-4 weeks for posts to go live as we review articles. Thank you for your submission!
