10-Year-Old Girl Saves Father's Life With Facebook!

Quick-Thinking Daughter Uses Facebook Post to Save Father

Say what you want about kids and social media, but you never know when your kid having a Facebook account might save your life!

Such is the case of 10-year-old Brianna Vance from Henlawson, WV, who was at home with her father and his two friends when a major storm rolled through their town. Her dad, Gregory Vance, and his two friends were sitting on the front porch of their home when the storm caused a tree to fall and land on them.

Like many houses today, their home didn't have a landline and the cellular networks weren't working due to the storm. Somehow, Brianna managed to find a signal strong enough to get her onto Facebook and posted alerting her friends and family to the emergency

The lightning crashed and hit a tree by our porch and my dad’s almost dead. He needs an ambulance please. Please call one for us if you have a signal. We live in a yellow house.” read the message that she posted on her Facebook wall. Someone noticed the post online and called for help. First responders transported her father and his friends to hospital where they were treated for injuries.

While Facebook may not seem like a great option for young children, you never know when that one little connection is all you might have!
