New Music Tuesday: January 12, 2010

January 12, 2010

Love kicking off the new year with fantastic new music to re-energize the iPod. And this week's New Music Tuesday does not disappoint.

It's like going shopping and everything you try on fits like a glove, with no alterations required.

Umm yeah. That's my way of saying that I loved everything that I heard this morning and my credit card felt it.  I was in a purchasing iTunes trance.

But really I can't be blamed...there were so many brilliant gems.

Some of the standout tracks...

If you like that retro vibe of Duffy and Amy Winehouse, you will totally fall for 'Cat & Mouse' by Nikki & Rich.

The Santigold and Snotty remix of 'Chasing Pirates' by Norah Jones is a must check out.

New names to get familiar with (and their albums)...Woodpigeon (Die Stadt Muzikanten) and Laura Veirs (July Flame).

With Season 9 of American Idol kicking off tonight [so excited], former finalist, Jason Castro has a solid new offering. A fantastic collaboration with Serena Ryder, called 'You Can Always Come Home'.

For all things country, a beautiful new song by Lady Antebellum, 'Ready to Love Again'.

And a track that I can't get out of my head...'Horchata' by Vampire Weekend.

So nothing more really needs to be said other than 'Go forth and download'.

Behind The Blog

Consuelo Bernardi is a 30-something mummy of two.  She can't play an instrument or sing a tune in key but is still obsessed with music.  After 10 years in the radio business (token female traffic chick at 106.9 The Bear, morning show co-host of Doc & Connie, promo coordinator, promo-director and music director for 101.1 Xfm, Music Director and Artist Relations 105.3 KISS FM)  There's more...we just can’t fit it all in without starting another page.

Still she always found the time to listen to music and make it a huge part of her life.  She has more CDs than she cares to count and her monthly downloading bill for her iPod?  Don’t even go there.  Music truly is food for her soul.  Plus secretly she’s always wanted to be a wannabe rock star...a girl can dream.

So take a minute from your day and crank up the volume.  Motherhood isn't always pretty but at least your music will be hot.
