This Time Saver Just Made Your Online Shopping Easier than Ever

enjoy the helping hand that technology can bring, and get back to your book a little bit faster during these holidays.

Time is one resource none of us have much of these days, and I think most parents I know would agree! I find that it’s harder and harder to get many daily tasks done, let alone follow my passions - especially the one that sees me curling up with a good book.

Finding time to read in my day to day life is challenging. Fortunately, I also love to travel, and the forced idleness gives me plenty of time to sit and read. Last week I was heading out to spend a week touring Israel, and the long trip there and back was bound to give me some great reading opportunities!

Of course, as any person who’s about to embark on a long journey knows, the lost hours up to the travel time out are fraught with last-minute stresses and tasks. I barely had time to make sure I had my toothbrush packed, much less take a trip to my favourite book store to make sure I had plenty to read.

This is where online shopping saved the day. While I was waiting in the airport to board, I could shop online for some of the books I’d been looking forward to reading for months and download them to my e-reader.

Masterpass is a digital wallet for people who like (or need!) to shop and get on their way, and it’s a great little life hack for speeding up online shopping. Not only can you store any of your credit cards  – and here’s another super cool part - you can also add your debit card, and prepaid cards as well! It saves your payment information and mailing address securely, making checkout faster everywhere it is accepted.

Whether you’re shopping for a gift for someone you love, or you’re just looking for a treat for yourself, be sure to enjoy a great book this season. And while you’re shopping, you can make your purchases faster and more convenient by using Masterpass – as I did, while shopping online for my books at Indigo!

Since I spent time in Israel with so many accomplished and intelligent women, I got some new book suggestions for the trip back, and I thought I’d share a few books I love for people who may be looking for a new read – and they’re all available at Indigo where you can use Masterpass!

Dovekeepers: One of my favorite novels ever, Dovekeepers is a fictional account of the brave women from Masada, the fortress that still sits in ruins today atop a mountain in Israel. It was pretty amazing to have read the book and then walk through Masada.

Outlander: Those who know me know I’m obsessed with this historical romance series. What surprised me was how equally obsessed so many of my fellow travelers were with the exploits of Jamie and Claire. If you haven’t started reading it yet, what are you waiting for?

Untangled: So many of us are blessed with daughters – but let’s be honest: parenting girls is a wonderful but challenging experience in today’s world. Untangled is a must read for anyone raising girls. Lisa Damour is a psychologist with some incredibly useful insights on what makes girls tick - and some surprising things parents need to understand that will make their daughters’ behavior make sense.

Mommy Shorts Guide to Remarkably Average Parenting: If you’re looking for a big chuckle focused on raising kids with a sense of humour, you’ll need Ilana Wiles hysterical book Incredibly Average Parenting. Based on her incredibly successful blog and Instagram feed, Ilana has an uncanny way of capturing what modern parenting really looks like, so it makes a great gift for a parent-to-be, or to one who’s already in the trenches and needs a laugh.

Get the Behavior You Want Without Being the Parent You Hate: It was a gift having family doctor and parenting expert Deborah Gilboa on our Israeli tour. Deb has a passion for helping and sharing her deep wealth of knowledge. If you’re raising kids, you need to read this book right now. She has such useful, practical advice on how to navigate the tricky teen years that will definitely change how you parent.

It can be tricky to find opportunities for personal escape, and for me that means diving into a great book. But Masterpass can make getting your passion in place happen more quickly – and safer – than ever! In fact, I even got to use it to upgrade my Air Canada tickets for the return flight, which meant a more comfy reading opportunity. Just find your item or service, select Masterpass at checkout, verify your details, and go!

We don’t need to waste extra time looking around for our wallets this season. You’re busy; we’re all busy. There’s no fees for using this service, so enjoy the helping hand that technology can bring, and get back to your book a little bit faster during these holidays.

Be sure to help others get back to their books (or whatever their passion is) too! Spread the word about Masterpass by participating in this contest, and you could be entered to win one of three $100 prepaid Mastercard gift cards this holiday season!
