RECALL: Janes Brand Frozen Uncooked Breaded Chicken Products

Don't whip these out of the freezer tonight.

RECALL DATED: October 17, 2017

If you were thinking of whipping these out of the freezer for an easy family dinner, you should take the box back to the store and pick up a rotisserie from the deli tonight instead. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says that Sofina Foods Inc. is  recalling Janes brand frozen uncooked breaded chicken products from the marketplace due to possible Salmonella contamination after an outbreak of foodborne illness.

Consumers should not consume the recalled products described below:

  • Janes Pub Style Chicken Burgers – Uncooked Breaded Chicken Burgers (800 g) - Product code: 2018 MA 12 - UPC: 0 69299 12491 0
  • Janes Pub Style Snacks Popcorn Chicken – Uncooked Breaded Chicken Cutlettes (800 g) - 2018 MA 15  - UPC: 0 69299 12542 9

Food contaminated with salmonella can make you sick even though it does not look or smell spoiled. Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections. Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea.

If you have the products at your home, dispose of them or return them to the store. Hey, we know as parents you're probably headed back to the grocery store at some point this week anyway, so why not get the refund while you're there?
