The Environmental Working Group (EWG) has just released their 2012 edition of the Cleaners Hall of Shame which is designed to “out” household cleaners that are packed with toxic chemicals and are simply just not healthy for us and the environment. The EWG says:
“Cleaners labeled "safe," "non-toxic" and "green" can contain hazardous ingredients. There should be a law against bogus claims, but there isn't. Some companies are willing to bend the truth—because they can.”
And it is true. As a consumer, it is very important for us to educate ourselves so we know what we are bringing into our homes and exposing our families to. Here are my top 5 picks for the most eco-friendly household cleaners, all of which can easily be found at any local store carrying natural products.
