Refreshing The Laundry

Because my family has really sensitive skin, I try to avoid using harsh products on their clothes. My two youngest children both suffer from eczema throughout the winter months, and have such bad reactions to bug bites that if not treated immediately, usually turn into something that looks a lot like psoriasis.

I always use green products in our laundry roomlaundry detergent, fabric softener, and at times i was using the Green Works bleach (however, this one is still a bit too harsh for my kids). So, I started using vinegar! Not only does it cut right through the odors that stick to fabrics (like socks), but it doesn't hurt the colour and it seems much easier on the girls' skin.

I'm still in search of a dryer sheet that doesn't leave an irritating residue. I do not put undergarments in the dryer, because the dryer sheets and bars leave a residue that is irritating and can throw off your pH balance, leaving you with a not-so-nice yeast infection. I am looking through the vegan websites to find an all-natural, do-it-yourself recipe for dryer sheets to see if that helps.

I am a stay at home mother of 4 kids. I am a little OCD when it comes to cleaning and organizing....yes my children are color coded. I am adicted to stuffing things into baskets. I love to cook, bake and decorate.
