Most first time pregnant women have no clue what they are up against. I am 5’7, 125 lbs -I am a healthy eater, I work out regularly as I did throughout my pregnancy. Even up to the last week. It’s inevitable. Your body will gain what it needs to gain. Mine needed a whopping 55 lbs!
“So”..i had thought! I kinda assumed once I deliver my belly will shrink to only what I knew before…almost flat! After all I ate pretty darn healthy, worked out my whole life…supermodels bounce right back…why wouldn’t I?
After I delivered my healthy beautiful baby girl…I naturally thought how and I going to get back in my size 4 pants. It couldn’t come quick enough!!!! My back fat, my spire tire…it all hung out…for 6 months. Wow –there has to be a quicker way I thought…..
That thought crossed my mind 2 years later once it was time to try for baby #2. The thought of doing this again made my nauseous. Tummy tuck was not an option – I could barely endure the needles (my mother was impressed that I got thru childbirth).
So my sisters and I starting doing some reasearch. We had found that in many other cultures for centuries women had wrapped their bellies for up to 40 days to help shrink their uterus, reduce water retention and so many other benefits including helping to loose that belly faster!!! I wondered why this type of idea never came across my lap before…being the product QUEEN I am!!!! After all, I was a fashion design major…my sewing may be a little rusty but I will give it a shot!
Cutting, sewing, testing different fabrics, tensile strengths – YOU name it….months later…still not perfect! Oh we think we go it….but how do we size this think as every womens body is different especially right after birth!
My sisters and I stood outside of a local store measuring strangers waists for 2 days – 186 measurements later – we think we have the sizing down pat!!!! Once the trademark and all the legal stuff was done….the Belly Bandit was born.
I brought the idea to my gyno….while he too was familiar with wrapping the belly after birth – he said they just don’t do it much in the states – but agreed it was effective and that there was truly a need for it.
We made 100 to start – we did a test market on post pregnant women and the response was overwhelming. We started giving them out to friends – to get honest opinions….those too were great….there is a market for these. So we did not stop at 1 kind of belly bandit….we needed 3….as the 3 of us needed to create our own!!
Today, nearly 5 months after the launch of Belly Bandit…we are in close to 225 boutiques in 4 different countries. Our goal was to help other women who felt the same way I did after my first delivery. So we thought we’d share this age old secret in our modern day designs with the entire world!
