I'm seven weeks postpartum with my second child and I'm not only holding onto 20 pounds from my pre-pre-pregnancy days, but I also have a very different shape now. I have no clue how to dress without looking really overweight. (Pancake bum and muffin top, hello!) I'm in the "in between" stage... I can't lose all the weight yet cause my body seems to hold onto fat while I'm breastfeeding... but I can't feel so uncomfortable in my clothes for the next 12 months.
So I'm wondering - has anyone read any good articles about how to dress for your new shape? Anyone have any good tips? Personal experiences with this? Maybe seen a stylist that's not too expensive?
I'm desperate here! :)

I LIVED in leggings and cute drapey knit/jersey tunics / dresses. The comfy materials instantly give you an edge when it comes to body-confidence, plus I could dress things up and down really easily - think blazer and/or statement necklace for stepping out, or hoodie and Uggs for playdate.
The most important thing is to allow yourself to change, and not try and hold yourself to what you used to look like. :)

Thanks for the great tips! I was starting to think (after 600 views but no comments) that nobody was able to weigh in on this topic and respond! :) Thank you again!
I totally agree- it's a shame more people didn't comment!
Here is my advice- Stick to black! I still use these hard and fast rule for looking slimmer. Accept that your body might not be the same shape again.
As hard as it was, I bought a few pairs of pants in a, larger than I'd like to admit, size. I did look better when the clothes fit better! It was definitely a celebration when those pants were falling off me!
Best advice- give yourself time to get the weight off.
Great advice! I've purchased a few pants in a larger size than I like to admit too... but they still don't seem to fit properly. I'm on the hunt for the perfect style of jeans! I don't care what the size for now... I just wish I could find the right shape/fit.
Thanks again for the tips and advice. :)
But they're the shirts that are tighter right beneath the boobs and then flare out a bit. Those. I lived in them (and still do) b/c they highlighted my nicely, newly bigger boobs and detracted from the deflated balloon that was my stomach. Plus you can buy dressier ones for going out and more casual for when you're around the house. I still wear them to this day.
