ADHD and Learning Disabilities

Does anyone's child have either of these or is accused of either of these? My DS8 is going to have his first appointment soon to try to see if he has one of these or something else.  He is (and has always) been very busy, very active, very silly and struggles to focus. We have also noticed inconsistencies in his learning abilities.  Some things he learns so easily and quickly, other things he can't seem to learn to save his life, and some things he knew he forgets all of a sudden.  It's all so strange and frustrating.  He knows about his appointment and thinks he did something wrong.  No matter how much I try to reassure him that it's nothing he did and it's not bad, that we just want to ensure we understand how he learns so that we can be better teachers for him.  I feel bad that school is so hard for him and nervous for the road ahead.  I will allow them to medicate him for this but am willing to try other things to help him.

Angela was son was diagnoised

Angela was son was diagnoised with ADHD at and early age and we were advised to put him on medication. We chose not to- in the begining. We searched and tried other methods first and after 1.5 years we chose medication because we felt we had tried everything else. For us the medication was a god send. he was on asmall dose and it allowed him to focus in class, participate in group activities and the big thing let him make friends.

I'm not going to lie it's been hard but in my opinion anything worthwhile is never an easy road. I hope you get the answers you are looking for. Please remember that there are many parents that are dealing with these struggles and you are far from alone.
