No inspiration other than we agreed on them, which was a small miracle! For both boys, their names were the only ones that we both put high on our lists.
For my daughter, we found the name in a baby names book and loved it. We have a great relationship story, and I love writing, so it fit... her name is Story. Her middle name (Selby) was my maternal grandfather's name.
My son is named in honour of my Dad, who is a member of the Masonic lodge. His name is Mason. His middle name (Morgan) is my mother's maiden name (and also part of my maiden name).
For my daughter, I wrote down a long list of girls names. Cadence happened to be the first name on the list. It stood out to my husband and I. Choosing her name was a painless process.
We originally chose the name Grayson for my son. We feel in love with it after hearing the name used on Cougar Town. Our view of the name was quickly tampered when family started piping up about potential nick names are son would have in school. Yea. We weren't too impressed with them, but that's a whole other story. We ended up choosing Cameron in the end.
I had always loved the name DeShawn. It started in highschool when I took home the baby doll "baby-think-it-over" in parenting class. However, I knew too many DeShawns so I came up with DeAndre. Then I met my DH and basically told him that was the name. Thankfully he liked it. At the time I thought it was original, but I later (like last year) foudn out it's also Soulja boy's real name. (eww). I did NOT do that on purpose. haha. His middle name is after DH's dad.
Dorian was chosen because I wanted to name my baby girl after my grandmother who passed away but we had boys, not girls. So I turned Doreen into Dorian. I also wanted the middle name to be after my father so Dorian became the first name. At first DH wasn't 100% sure of it but his name is Adrian so I showed him how similar Dorian and Adrian were to eachother. Then it grew on him. haha.
