Are You Nesting?

Your Pregnancy Week 37

Hey (almost) mama, are you huge, over-heated, pee-tastic, super tired and feeling just a bit anxious and cranky? Welcome to the next 30 years!

Remember when we mentioned how babies are much better when fully baked? Well the oven timer just dinged – it might be time to get this chicken out – it’s fully prepped! And by prepped, we mean delicate, powerless and inexperienced; unable to do anything other than cry, pee, poop, and eat (repeat). That said, you could literally give birth at any given moment. A frightening, electrifying and overwhelming concept, isn't it?

Your partner is probably indulging in the very same emotional roller-coaster, so be sure to share your feelings and enjoy these last weeks (days?! hours?!) together. Or WHATEVER. They’re not the ones carrying around a watermelon, hoping soon to push it out a hole that is currently around the size of a cherry.

If you have a sudden desire to rearrange your linen closet again, or you find yourself polishing all of the already polished glass surfaces, then you are likely nesting. Nesting is when exhausted and hugely pregnant women suddenly find the desire and the energy to clean as though their life depended on it. Makes you wish nature had the forethought to send that urge to your partner every now and then, doesn't it?

Use some of that momentum to stock up on baby needs like diapers and wipes. You really don't need to be cleaning the windows (again) right now… and even if you're feeling super-energetic, make sure to get enough rest. You'll need your strength for labour and all that comes after. Seriously.

No matter where you’re at in your pregnancy our guide will keep you up-to-date. Find out more about what’s happening to your body here.
