All I Want for Mother’s Day

The Yummy Mummy Club asked 1,161 moms what they would like most for Mother’s Day.

Here are just a few burning desires from real moms across Canada:

“Another bottle of my favourite lotion – with a padlock attached.  Last year, within two hours of receiving a lotion, my two year old had emptied the bottle on my bed, and I found him ‘painting’ with it!”  - Jolyn Swain, stay-at-home-mom, Calgary, Alberta

“I would love to get the whole house to myself for the day, in order to stay in my jammies, read a trashy book and have lots of yummy treats – with no interruptions.- Jennifer Rayment, librarian, Bolton, Ontario

“Are there any mummies out there who want more nookie?  I’m crazy for my sweet guy and really want some lovin’ from him.  It would be great to sleep in, have a lovely hot bubble bath, and then some steamy romance (including foreplay before his pants come off)!”  - Anonymous Yummy Mummy extraordinaire, Toronto, Ontario

“To sleep in past 6:30am, get a mid-day nap, breakfast out with my husband and son, and no household duties.  Ahhhh, the dream!”  - Dionne Craig, daycare provider, Stouffville, Ontario

“I want to wake up in the morning, and have the kids dressed, fed, house tidy and to hear no fighting.”  - Shelly Stetsko, all-purpose mom, Castlegar, British Columbia

This year, many a mom across Canada will be subjected to never-before-seen breakfast creations, prepared lovingly by their children on Mother’s Day.  YummyMummyClub.ca would like to salute all those mini-chefs who make such culinary magic happen, and the yummy mummies who somehow manage to down those oh-so-gourmet meals graciously with big smiles.

Here’s to some great breakfast moments:

“I would have to say the best and most memorable Mother’s Day ‘gift’ would be when my five year old son made me breakfast in bed.  My ‘breakfast’ consisted of Lucky Charms with chocolate milk, burnt toast with his favourite mustard on it, and a glass of Coke. Mmmmm!  The breakfast of champions!  I was so touched and impressed that my son took it upon himself to do this for me.  He set his alarm clock, got up early all by himself, got dressed up in his little suit and made me breakfast.– Shelley Gross, Thunder Bay, Ontario

“The pancakes were undone.  The eggs were runny and egg yolks broken. The coffee was cold.  The orange juice glass tipped onto the tray wetting the toasts.  The worst part of it – they were all waiting for me to eat it with a big smile.  I had to force myself at least to try a bit of everything.”  - Lisa Grillo, self-employed, Boucherville, Quebec

“My son was making me breakfast in bed and he came and told me not to come out until it was ready…Then he started crying as he was in the kitchen.  He had broken 12 eggs and added one whole bag of noodles and was stirring it on the kitchen floor.– Frances Fitzgerald, Lindsay, Ontario

“My boys were trying to make some type of breakfast in bed concoction when the fire alarm went off!  They had put it in the oven and forgotten about it in pursuit of their morning cartoons.  There was no sleeping in for me.  I had to rush downstairs and pull the baking dish out of the oven all black and charred as my boys jumped up and down frantically behind me.  We all laughed and decided to make pancakes instead.– Andrea Sillis, full-time mom, Nanaimo, British Columbia
