What Moms REALLY Want For Mother's Day

Skip The Store and Do This Instead

We asked moms what they wanted most this Mother's Day and the answers were surprisingly simple.  So guys, skip the stores this year and give the mom in your life something she really wants. Number 1 is going to blow your mind.

5. Something Thoughtful

It all boils down to knowing what the mom in your life likes and doesn't like. Show her you love her by listening to her.  And if you don't know what she wants, don't panic, just do some detective work – call her friends and ask.

Last year, my husband started a Mother's Day journal for me, the idea is that each year he and the kids will write an entry for me (in lieu of a card)...I can't wait to read it again this year.
Susan C.

I'd love a letter from each of my boys - ages 19, 15 and 15. They're all terrific writers but I don't know if they've ever written a letter.
Heather W.

I would love to wake up to a tea or coffee and a new fishing rod, garden supplies and some homemade cards from my girls...oh, and I agree with the no kids fighting for the day
Carrie P.

For my husband to remember it's Mother's Day and surprise me with something small... Even just a plant or new slippers would be great...lol
Danielle H.

Flowers. I love getting them, but I don't get them often.

4. Family Time

Many moms wanted a day with the family but it comes with a caveat...no fighting.

One day where my two girls don't fight or argue!
Kim M.

I'm not sure. This will be my first Mother's Day, and I am pretty excited . At first I thought oh hubby will want to get me flowers and I had to stop myself from thinking that would be wasteful they die so fast lol. I think just a day out in the park, the three of us, would be perfect. Okay and maybe some flowers.
Katie T.

A day relaxing with my boys.
Samantha W.

The perfect day would include a sleep in...a big breakfast with the family followed by a massage, mani, pedi, and hour alone to read a book and then family bike ride wrapped up with an outdoor BBQ dinner.

3. A Day Off

Make this the one day a year where mom has to do absolutely nothing. Do all the chores on Mother's Day so that she has more time to herself for the rest of the week. And if you bring her breakfast or make her a lunch or dinner, be sure to clean up afterwards.

Someone else to cook and clean for the day.
Elena S.

A day of doing no housework, cooking or cleaning, and doing something nice with my family like a hike in the woods or a bike ride.
Amanda R.

My kids do all the chores, cooking and errands, while I take a nap.
Lisa S.

A chore free day that includes a pedicure and lots of snuggles.
Amanda L.

2. Me Time

Moms are on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Give her this one day a year to recharge and spend it doing what she loves.

A me day.
Carolyn S.

A day to myself. I would get a pedi with my gift certificate ( from mothers day last year lol)... Go bird watching and then sit on a patio and have a daiquiri.
Karen M.

Ironically I would like one whole day without the kids!
Amy B.

A nap. I just want sleep that's isn't filled with kids talking! lol
Andrea H.

A spa day. Not just the gift certificate, but the time to actually use it.
Deborah C.

A day just for me... No boys fighting or screaming, someone to pamper me. It is Mother's Day... So it should be a day for us!
Marni M.

I would love a day to grab a coffee, and buy all the books in Indigo, Chapters and Coles that I love!
Karla C.

1. Sleep

Is it surprising that moms want to sleep? Not to us because we've been sleep deprived for years. Skip the jewelry and chocolate and fluff those pillows, wash the sheets, and do whatever needs to be done to create the comfiest environment you can so your partner can get the well-deserved Zzzzzz's she needs.

Sleep!!! I have a newborn, otherwise I have all I want already, my three kids, my man and friends and family all I need
Laurie E.

Sleep. Oh god, sweet sleep.
Kristin K.

Sleep!
Kerry L.

10 consecutive hours of sleep. A sushi lunch for one. Is that mean? I just want to be left alone for a few hours.
Taymerai M.

A nap.
Catriona M.

Sleep with no interruptions!

24 hours of SILENCE (i.e. sleep!)
