Chris Hemsworth Parenting His Kids is the News Story We Need Right Now

In a time of hate, it's a good time to remember love.

Chris Hemsworth Great Dad

If one word could summarize 2016 in the media, it'd probably be "toxic." We've had to endure, BREXIT, the Stanford rape, a lackluster economy, North Korea testing nuclear weapons, and the American election. It has whipped up an incredible frenzy of bad feeling. Not just there, but around the globe. A lot of parents are uneasy about the future, when so much hate is being directed at women, at minorities, at millennial youth and at men who are "soft" and compassionate, especially with children.

What has happened to us that caring for children has become a sign of weakness? They're our future. We need them to grow up strong. We need them to evolve, and be better than us.

This is why we need more men like Chris Hemsworth.

Chris Hemsworth is showing us that there's nothing unmanly or soft about caring for children. And he makes no secret about it. He supported the Polished Man campaign.

He spends quality time with his kids.

He is affectionate to his wife. And encouraging to his daughter.

He loves his own father and says so.

He's not afraid of letting his inner child come out to play.

He's patient and gentle with those who are smaller and weaker than he is.

Even when they're not his own.

He is generous and respectful of people around him. And he gives back, a lot.

Standing with those who are fighting to protect their sacred land and water. #nodapl #waterislife #mniwiconi @taikawaititi I would also like to take this opportunity to raise something that has been bothering me for sometime. Last New Year's Eve I was at a "Lone Ranger" themed party where some of us, myself included, wore the traditional dress of First Nations people. I was stupidly unaware of the offence this may have caused and the sensitivity around this issue. I sincerely and unreservedly apologise to all First Nations people for this thoughtless action. I now appreciate that there is a great need for a deeper understanding of the complex and extensive issues facing indigenous communities. I hope that in highlighting my own ignorance I can help in some small way.

He isn't afraid to tell people when he has made a mistake.

And he'll do anything for his littles. Including protecting them from disappointment.

While it's true that on Instagram we don't see the less-than-perfect moments, it's sad to think that many of these perfect moments are something the men in our lives would prefer not to have the world see either.

This is beautiful. It's manly. It's... love. And no man should be ashamed of aspiring to being a hands-on father.

We need more Chris Hemsworths in our lives.
