Real Moms Spill It About Sippy Cups

Moms and Kids Put Playtex Occasion-based Cups To The Test

Little ones are always on the go and when you add liquid into the mix, small sips can turn into big spills.

We had moms and kids put Playtex Occasion-based Cups to the test. From TrainingTime to PlayTime to TravelTime or even just AnyTime, little ones ages one to four, sipped, chewed, shook and played with these cups to see if they would stand up.

Find out what their moms had to say.

My son easily used the cup without much coaxing. The handles were fabulous and he quickly took to using it. I loved being able to take apart the cup which allowed for awesome cleaning!

The soft spout on this cup helped my son stop using a bottle. We were having a bit of trouble fully transitioning our little guy from his glass bottle to a sippy cup, so we were hoping the TrainingTime cup would do the trick. Since the spout is soft like a bottle nipple, he has been less interested in using his bottle after using the cup for only a few days.

The TrainingTime Cup works well. There was no leaking with or without the handles no matter how much I would shake or drop it. I really like the cover too. It keeps the spout clean in the diaper bag.

My 17-month-old loves to throw things and this cup was definitely put to the test! The shape made it easy for their little hands to hold and the twist and click feature ensured that it was closed and wouldn't leak. This cup is mom-approved!

The cup's design made it easy for my little girl to hold, while the twist 'n click lid made sure there was never a leak or spill. My daughter likes to bite things however and there is now a small hole in the straw. I am not sure if you can buy replacements for that but if you can that would be a great bonus.

The AnyTime Cup is fabulous. It holds a good deal of milk/water and is a great size for bringing in the stroller or car. I loved the colours and it was super easy to clean!

Being dishwasher safe also makes it pretty darn awesome!

This is my toddler's new favourite cup! When I first filled it, I shook it, turned it upside down, dropped it on the floor, and it really didn't leak. Win!

I gave this cup to my two-year-old and it is actually the first cup he's used with a straw. He liked it right away and has been using it all the time. We love how it really is spill-proof.

My favourite feature of the cup is that the straw is easily tucked away when not in use so it doesn't get dirty. The straw also reaches the bottom so all of the liquid is easily accessed. My daughter loves this cup and it has become her first choice when it comes to sippy cups!

My daughter loves using the AnyTime cup. For her, she is all about colours, and purple is one of her favourites. This cup is usually the one she starts off her day using for breakfast. She also enjoys using the straw from the PlayTime cup on the AnyTime cup because she loves drinking from straws.

Although we are beginning to come to an end with traditional spout sippy cups, we still found this cup to be very good. It is 100% leak proof (often said but not true).

The cup also kept his cold water for about four hours — fantastic!

The fun designs were a big hit and the bright colours made the cups easy to find when my girls misplaced in the house. It kept their cold water cold and the added plus is it don't leak. I have been looking for a great sippy cup to transition my 19-month-old from bottles and these cups made it very easy to do so. No more bottles here.

In our house when a sippy cup went missing, I would find it later on with puddles of liquid underneath (usually on my microfiber couch). I have yet to experience any leakage with the PlayTime Cup. It is easy to tell if the lid has been closed properly thanks to the loud click and because it is insulated her drink stays cold longer.

My daughter loves this cup and started using it as soon as we got the package. I love the Twist 'n Click feature — extra insurance that it's not going to leak.

My son really loved his new cups. He liked the fun patterns and I liked the new and improved spill proof mechanism which worked great and is even easier to clean that before.

My kids loved the colours of the cups. They were vibrant colours, and it was love at first sight for my daughter when she laid her eyes on the Playtime Cup. She loves butterflies, so this cup was a big hit with her. My favourite feature was Twist n’ Click leak-proof seal used on these cups. You could physically feel when the lid of the cup has been properly locked to avoid leaks.

The PlayTime cup is great — absolutely leak and spill proof! Easy to clean, easy to use. Love the design, as well as the graphics & colours. Would definitely recommend!

I am so amazed that the claims on the new Playtex cups are true! NO leaks! With a busy toddler I can't tell you how many cups we've been through that have let us down! The click and seal is a great reassurance that the cup is closed properly! I can't tell you how many times the cup has been thrown...not even a drop!

We LOVE the Playtex playtime cup! It really is built for busy toddlers!

My favourite feature of this cup is that it is insulated. My daughter loves to have milk on the go and I am assured when using this cup that it won’t spoil. It’s also easy to hold — which is great!

We tested the TravelTime cup and it is the first spoutless cup we've ever used. My 4-year-old used this cup and thought it was cool, but at first did think it was a "baby" cup until I showed him the lid and said, "See, look it has the same kind of lid like mommy and daddy's coffee cup." He loves to take it everywhere, which is good since that is the point with this cup. This cup has been great to use and I love that it has the snap-up lid to cover the opening of the lid.

My son is 4 years old and loves to have a cup in his bed with him at night. All the cups we used before would gradually leak and make his bed wet. This cup with the straw like spout closes and is 100% leak proof. Not a drop of water in the bed. He also likes to take it in the car with him as it's not "babyish" with the straw. Two thumbs up on this one!

My 4-year-old likes this one because the plastic lip makes pulling up the mouthpiece easy. It's mostly leak-free unless she shakes it.

My son loved the TravelTime Cup because it had a straw, and I liked that it was still spill-proof enough that I allow him to use this cup while watching TV in my bed. This cup has been great, and he's been asking me to buy him another one so he has one for juice and for milk.

This cup is great. It locks smoothly and is spill proof. My daughter finds it easy to drink from and manage. It is easy to wash and remove the valve. This is my favourite Playtex sippy cup.

My daughter and I love the TravelTime cup. It is easy and fun to use. The Twist 'n Click feature is great. The best part about it is that is doesn't spill or leak. The owl pictures on the cup are so cute! It is easy to clean, but I lost the valve that attaches the straw to the cover down the drain when I was doing the dishes. Could you please mail me another valve?
