The only thing better than spending time reading a good book is spending time reading a good cheap book. I've collected a few cheap and easy reads over time as a professional smut book enthusiast, so I'm using my powers for good to pass along the savings. The best part is that I would totally recommend these books even if they weren't $1, but because they ARE $1, it makes the deal even sweeter.
Each of the books I'm listing here were priced around CAN$1 at the time of publishing. Please check with Amazon or the bookseller you use before purchasing as e-book prices tend to fluctuate.
This Man is the start of the epic This Man Trilogy by Jodi Ellen Malpas. The third and final book in the series will be released on July 2nd, and from now through July 8th, the first two books are on sale. When I read This Man, I fell in love with not wanting to love Jesse Ward, and then when I read Beneath This Man, I really didn't want to like him. But then I was giving the opportunity to read This Man Confessed and REALLY fell in love with Jesse and the whole series.
This Man and Beneath This Man are definite must-reads for us smut book lovers, especially with This Man Confessed being released in July.
I feel like yelling, "BLOODY HELL!" after finishing this damn book with its damn British arseholes and damn British English. I never want to like or love Jesse, because let's get it straight - he's a controlling, effed up, shady, powerful man—but I can't help but want him happy with Ava. [click for my full 5-star review]
My Favorite Quote: “Ava, you should know that once I’ve had you, you’re mine.”
These two people are no good for one another. Both are self-destructive, obsessive, hurtful, controlling, petulant, domineering, and manipulative which makes for some borderline abusive sexual encounters. During the middle 75% of the book, there's a rotation of "argue, yell, threaten, leave, second guess, reunite, sex, more sex, 'MOUTH,' love." [click for my full 4-star review]
My Favorite Quote: "You sleep here." he whispers, lowering me into his bed.
Everything I wish for, hoped for, expected, and didn't expect came to fruition, wrapped in a more-than-satisfactory Central Jesse Cloud Nine lace bow. The This Man Trilogy is a must-read, must-immerse-in series. [click for my full 5-star review]
My Favorite Quote: “Do you feel that?” He flattens my palms on his chest and holds them there firmly. “It was made to love you, Ava.”
The first thing I tell anyone who is thinking of reading The Dark Duet series is that they are just that: dark. Without giving anything away, the books involve the kidnapping of an 18-year-old girl and the subsequent anti-romance of her and her captor. Though they are incredibly emotional and can be difficult for some people to connect with, all three books in the series are some of the best-written books I've ever read.
Captive in the Dark is the start of a trilogy that is mind-blowingly amazing and not to be missed. [click for my full 4-star review]
The writing in this book and its predecessor is impeccable. Other than having to know what happens with Livvie and Caleb, the writing is what pushed me through to the end of the book. [click for my full 5-star review]
My Favorite Quote: The naïve girl in me had been bitch-slapped into womanhood.
The first thing you should do before you read Epilogue is read the first two books in the Dark Duet series; this is not a standalone book. After your heart, mind, and lady bits have been ripped to shreds by Captive in the Dark and Seduced in the Dark, Epilogue is the perfect, no-nonsense bow to a messed up designer bakery cake. My Favorite Quote: Thank goodness for whatever hormones make women so agreeable after you’ve laid them right, because that’s all it took to get her to agree. Also… pancakes.
Lost To You by A.L. Jackson is a full-length prologue to the incredibly emotional book, Take This Regret. Together, the two books cost me about three gallons of tears and enough emotional scarring to last a lifetime. But at least it's not my life that's taking the beating these fictional characters mete out.
It's not really hard to read through goosebumps but it is really hard to read through tears. Good LORD, this is an amazing love story *slash* prologue to an even more emotional follow-up book. I cried my damn eyeballs out of my damn face while reading both of these damn books. [click for my full 5-star review]
This first book of a two-part series is not really about physical pain (as I came to find out after waiting the whole book for the whips and ropes to appear), but rather the self-inflicted emotional pain of two people. Luckily for you, both books are published, so there's no waiting around after the cliff-hanger of the first book I had to live through.
The sexy scenes were hot, the alternating 1st person narrative was fun to read, and the story progressed as naturally as I could believe a person disconnected from the internet could be. [click for my full 5-star review]
My Favorite Quote: I no longer have any idea what we we’re doing. I only know I like it.
As a pair of books that complete a story, Beauty From Surrender is a must-read if you loved Beauty From Pain. [click for my full 4-star review]
My Favorite Quote: If my panties weren’t already off, I’d be dropping them after hearing him say that.
Friends With Benefits and the other books in C.C. Wood's bookshelf are fun, quick, and are perfectly described as "beach reads." They are the quinntessential dose for a wrecked emotional system that needs a boost back from an emotional roller coaster. I highly recommend them for a shot of sexy and funny.
I finished this in one sitting and giggled out loud at several parts. Highly recommended read for when you need a quickie. [click for my full 4-1/2-star review]
My Favorite Quote: "Seriously, honey, that man’s body isn’t a wonderland, it’s a jungle gym. You need to climb on and play for a while.”
Just like its predecessor, Frenemies is a super hot, super quick, super good read. [click for my full 4-1/2-star review]
My Favorite Quote: I was pretty sure I had the same feeling a bug did right before it splattered into a windshield. I was intrigued by the bright light in his green eyes, but I knew it was only a matter of time before I went splat and ended up a big mess of guts.
