Erica's Running Music: Part 1

July 30, 2010

Last year, Erica Ehm started running and because running sucks when you're doing it alone she formed Team YMC.

And after conquering the Midsummer Night's Run (15K race in Toronto), Team YMC has taken on an even bigger challenge - but there is wine involved so it's not all that painful.

The Yummy Mummy Club is hosting a three day getaway (September 30 - October 3, 2010) to run the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon. Needless to say the training for Team YMC is in full swing.

So with that all said, about a month ago I got an email from Erica asking me to put together a running playlist for her new iPod to use during her marathon traning sessions. Umm hello the woman is my boss - like I'm gonna say no.

Erica and I went back and forth on email discussing the kind of music she wanted to include...the artists, the vibe, the tempo. Bottom line she wanted the music to keep her company and her mind off of the running.

A few of you have left me messages on Twitter asking for the a copy of the playlist...so here it is...there's a lot of songs (I went a little crazy...music, it's kind of an addiction for me) so I've alphabetised the list of songs and will dish out the playlist in a four-part series. Here are songs A thru C.

Matt Morris

July 29, 2010

Matt Morris (son of Country music star Gary Morris) is  a gifted singer/songwriter signed to Justin Timberlake's Tennman Record label.

Matt was in the cast of The Mickey Mouse Club (91-95) and his songs have been recorded by artists including Justin Timberlake, Kelly Clarkson, and Christina Aguilera. And he knows a thing or two about writing hit songs...he co-wrote Christina Aguilera's “Can’t Hold Us Down” and Kelly Clarkson’s “Miss Independent".

This is his new video for his single, "Live Forever," from his debut album 'When Everything Breaks Open'.

The song is about love that endures even as the world around you crumbles down...some Thursday morning inspiration to get you going.

Behind The Blog

Consuelo Bernardi is a 30-something mummy of two.  She can't play an instrument or sing a tune in key but is still obsessed with music.  After 10 years in the radio business (token female traffic chick at 106.9 The Bear, morning show co-host of Doc & Connie, promo coordinator, promo-director and music director for 101.1 Xfm, Music Director and Artist Relations 105.3 KISS FM)  There's more...we just can’t fit it all in without starting another page.

Still she always found the time to listen to music and make it a huge part of her life.  She has more CDs than she cares to count and her monthly downloading bill for her iPod?  Don’t even go there.  Music truly is food for her soul.  Plus secretly she’s always wanted to be a wannabe rock star...a girl can dream.

So take a minute from your day and crank up the volume.  Motherhood isn't always pretty but at least your music will be hot.
