Art for Book Lovers

What would your ideal bookshelf look like?

I have always loved books. As a child I read, and reread, The Secret Garden, The Phantom Tollbooth, The Island of the Blue Dolphins and more. Books have always been in my life and they are part of the fabric of my home. My children's rooms are packed with books. And mine are packed three rows deep on bookcases in our family room. I came across a site today called, Ideal Bookshelf, that is going to blow your book and decor loving minds.

In her own words, Jane Mount "paints portraits of people through the spines of their favourite books." This is what that looks like:

Amazing, right?!

Whether you have a passion for literary classics, cookbooks, travel guides, or have a sentimental attachment to your favourite children's stories, Ideal Bookshelf has something for every type of book lover. You can buy prints like the ones above, but the most amazing thing about Ideal Bookshelf is that you can order a custom piece of all of your favourite books. How special would that be?!

If I could choose {and it is way harder than I thought it would be} then I think I would have to select the books that started my love of reading; ones that I have read over and over.

Here is my list: The Secret Garden, Island of the Blue Dolphins, The Phantom Tollbooth, The Secret of Nimh, Anne of Green Gables, A Wrinkle In Time, and The Paper Bag Princess.

What would your Ideal Bookshelf include?

Make sure you check out the all new My Ideal Bookshelf book! I was lucky enough to receive a copy from Jane after we started chatting and it is wonderful. It showcases one hundred leading cultural figures and includes illustrations of their ideal bookshelf.
