Add to Your Kids’ Summer Reading List: Interactive History

Who says you have to travel far away this summer? Grab this series for kids and get ready to experience adventure!

Kids don’t just read “YOU CHOOSE” books, they BECOME part of the interactive history adventure. Travel back in time, and choose who to be, where to go, and what to do.  Stories based on historical events progress for a few pages, and then kids decide which person they would like to be.  Depending on the path they choose to take, kids turn to specified pages in the book to find out what happens to them next.

My favourite of the series so far is “Ancient Rome.” Kids can be chariot racers, poor farmers, senators, young women of marrying age, or businessmen.

Will your kids join the conspiracy to kill Caesar?  Will they poison their husbands?  They get to decide!

My kids had so much fun playing out different characters in Rome.  What a great way to make history come alive, and to teach kids about different perspectives in historical events.

Ages: 8 and up

Check out some of these other “You Choose” books:

Ancient Egypt, The Civil Rights Movement, The Golden Age of Pirates, Life as a Knight, Life as a Ninja, The Titanic.

What reading adventures do you have planned for your kids this summer?
