In a case of history grotesquely repeating itself, guess who the newest, youngest model is for GUESS? That's right Anna Nicole Smith's six-year-old daughter, Dannielynn Birkhead.
Two decades ago, Anna Nicole made a name for herself by modelling for GUESS. We all know what happened after that. Fame. Controversial marriage. Tragic death.
An article on Mommyish questions why Dannielynn's father would allow his daughter to follow in his mother's sorry footsteps.
No doubt about it, she's a cutie. Still, makes you wonder why she's being rushed down the same (thorny) garden path.
Sadly, the GUESS people don't seem to see the harm in thrusting a little girl under the same spotlight that basically burned her mother.
“Dannielynn has the same playful spirit that her mother had on a set," said Creative Director Paul Marciano. "She is a second-generation GUESS girl, which makes this campaign a first for us.”
GUESS, writes Mommyish, the "very same company who profited off of [Dannielynn's] troubled mother."

If you're on Facebook (of course you are), then you've seen the deluge of copyright ownership statuses claiming that you can 'own' your private data just by announcing it on your wall? Well, don't buy it. The only way to keep posts—including photos, videos, messages and other content—safe on Facebook is to not post on Facebook.
Users were warned that simply by typing the following blurb on their profile, they would safeguard their privacy:
“In response to the new Facebook guidelines I hereby declare that my copyright is attached to all of my personal details, illustrations, comics, paintings, professional photos and videos, etc. (as a result of the Berner Convention). For commercial use of the above my written consent is needed at all times!”
According to an article in the NY Daily, the message is a total sham. A hoax.
a) there are no new Facebook guidelines; and
b) the Berner Convention is an ancient copyright policy that is meaningless the minute you sign up to Facebook's conditions.
Yes, they own you and every last scrap of data you post—from the BLT you ate for lunch, to the indigestion that followed.
The only thing you CAN control is how that data is disseminated to the public, via your privacy settings.
Facebook policy states that your data is stripped of your name, and effectively becomes "faceless" before it is sold onto advertisers:
“We provide data to our advertising partners or customers after we have removed your name or any other personally identifying information from it, or have combined it with other people's data in a way that it is no longer associated with you.”
But if you really don't want your data sold to third-parties, then the only surefire way to do so is to deactivate your account, and resort to old-fashioned texting and emailing friends and family to keep in touch.

Ready to be inspired? If you can't beat 'em, join 'em was clearly the motto on the lips of the dad-to-be who shaved his head as a gesture of solidarity for his pregnant wife, who also happens to be undergoing chemotherapy.
According to an article in the Huffington Post, the man (known as 'slamhead') posted a "hair shaving extravaganza" album made up of 20 photos.
Probing from concerned commenters revealed that his wife has stage 2 breast cancer, but that the "prognosis is good for both mother and child."
Apparently—and amazingly—doctors claim the toxins in the chemotherapy won't harm the baby at this stage in the woman's pregnancy.
So the next time you are nagged with morning sickness, think of this woman, then reach for a ginger biscuit and count your blessings...
Kudos to this remarkably brave couple. Wishing them all the health and happiness there is!
