Though food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes will not look or smell spoiled, it can cause symptoms including "vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness." Particular susceptible to illness are the elderly and people with weakened immune systems. In pregnant women, an infection can lead to premature delivery, infection in the newborn or even stillbirth. In some cases, Listeria can prove fatal.

One illness has been reported in relation to this product.

CFIA is currently conducting a food safety investigation, and will update the recall should further items be identified.

These products were also recently recalled over possible Listeria contamination.
