Family Launches Appeal To Help Triplets With Rare Cancer

does anybody know the Marriotts?

As if the odds of having identical triplets (without IVF) weren't rare enough, the seven-month-old boys are all fighting a rare form of eye cancer known as retinoblastoma. The Lows have appealed for affordable accommodation in Toronto while their boys get treatment at Sick Kids Hospital.

According to an article in the Huffington Post, the family from Cardston, Alberta, has been "overwhelmed" at the response from the public after posting the following appeal:

"Does anybody have a condo in Toronto that they lease for 6 months time??? Or even better, does anybody know the Marriott family??? :) We aren't looking for a freebie," wrote mom Leslie Low on the family's blog last week.

"We are looking for a possible option that isn't a 12 month lease, and isn't $5000/month. You may think I am kidding, but a 6-month rental for a furnished 2 bedroom condo near the hospital runs $4,000-5,000 a month. We just booked their hotel for the chemo treatment in 3 weeks and it's $3885, for a 10 day stay..."

Some 80,000 site visitors and 300 emails later, the Lows have seen their spirits "buoyed" by the outpouring of kindness Canadians have shown them.

The family remains adamant that it is not seeking donations, and urges the public to avoid potential scammers. The Lows' official YouCaring fundraiser page has raised more than twice the original $30,000 goal to cover travel fees while the babies undergo chemotherapy out of province.

If you or someone you know can help, please contact the Lows directly via e-mail, or visit their blog.
