RECALL: Badger Baby Sunscreen Lotion

Health Canada has recalled Badger Baby SPF 30 Sunscreen Lotion (NPN 80039105, Lots 3057A and 3132A) and Badger Kids SPF 30 Sunscreen Lotion (NPN 80039108, Lot 3164A). In the U.S., Badger Baby lots recalled include 3024A, 3063A, 3063B, 3132A and 3133A.

The recalled lots were contaminated with three strains of bacteria (Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Candida parapsilosis and Acremonium fungi) that can cause serious conditions, including "pneumonia, meningitis and infections of the blood, bone, urinary tract and gastrointestinal system."

Those with compromised immune systems, particularly those suffering from from cystic fibrosis, cancer or diabetes, or those with burns or other skin conditions, have an increased risk of contracting an infection.

Typically the detected bacteria causes blood, eye or ear infections upon entering the body through cuts and burns.

Though no incidents have been reported to Health Canada, customers are advised to return the recalled sunscreen to the place of purchase.
