Busy Mom Chicken Fingers

No, Not the Kind From The Box

Chicken fingers are a staple in our lives. Whether it’s the drive-thru version, the boxed kind or the quick-fix homemade kind, chicken fingers are my kids' favourite.

Making Easter Brunch a Family Affair

Sun-Maid Raisin Waffle Toast

The weather this week suggests that spring is on its way and with spring comes Easter and with Easter comes...well something new for us.

After moving 3,000 km across the country and away from everything and everyone we have ever called home, I am making it my mission to start new family traditions especially around the holidays.

Most of these traditions revolve around finding new family favourite recipes and being in the kitchen with my kids. Because of this, I was thrilled to be asked to try Sun-Maid's newest recipes just in time for Easter.

Inside-Out Cheeseburgers

Make Them In The Same Amount Of Time It Takes To Separate Frozen Boxed Burgers

The weather has been fantastic lately and when it feels like spring outside, I start to sweet-talk my husband into firing up the BBQ.

My kids love hamburgers, but did you know that you can make homemade burgers in the same amount of time that it takes to try and separate frozen boxed hamburgers from each other?

Best of all, when you make your own, you can stuff them with anything you want!

Crock Pot Roast Beef Dinner

Easy Enough for Any Day of The Week

I make this dinner often because you put all of the fixings in one crock pot and there is no browning of the beef required (one less pot to wash = win!).

Two Potato Soup

Quick, Easy and Company Worthy

This recipe is my father’s but I have spent more than a few attempts trying to measure out into actual measurements his “little of this, little of that, a bit of wine for the soup, a bit of wine for me” approach to cooking.

The end result is a soup that is so easy to make, tastes fantastic and is definitely company-worthy.

Rice Krispies Heart Pops

Because These Are WAY Easier Than Cake Pops

I have three children and not surprisingly they all want to bring something different to their class Valentine's Day parties.

So far I've perfected Rice Krispies Mini Cupcakes, Mini Apple Heart Pies and now Rice Krispies Heart Pops.

Mini Apple Heart Pies

You Can't Deny My Little Man His Apple Pie

When I asked my four-year-old son what he wanted to take to his class Valentine's Day party he quickly said "nothing pink." Then he told me he didn't want cake because everyone brings cake.  I started thinking about Rice Krispies squares dipped in chocolate and he turned to me and said "Apple pie, Mommy. That's what I want to share with my friends."

Who can deny a man his apple pie?

Tater Tot Omelette Pie

It's easy to make...and the kids will love it!

Out of all the recipes I’ve ever made, this one is the most asked for and like most of the recipes that are my childhood favourites, this one came from my grandmother’s kitchen. I am sure it was first featured in one of the many magazines she still receives, but over the last few decades we have sampled and perfected and created this version.
