Meatloaf is one of those home cooked comfort foods that often come from recipes passed down for generations. My favourite (and easiest!) meatloaf recipe is pretty basic so when we decided to invite another family over for dinner and meatloaf was the agreed-upon main course, I wanted to come up with something that was still basic enough the kids would eat it but interesting enough to put on the dinner table for guests.
Are you guilty of changing the names of meal items in order to get your kids to eat their dinner? I know I am. Homemade Macaroni and Cheese becomes “cheesy pasta” and parmesan cheese becomes “shakey-shake” (because you get to shake it!) and then of course there are these Minecraft Pork Chops.
I've always loved cabbage rolls, but I've never actually made them. Why? Because spending my time wrapping each individual cabbage roll seems like a heck of a lot of work, especially for something that is readily available at my local market. The funny thing is, my kids don't actually like their cabbage rolls in nice neat bundles, and when I heat theirs up, I put them in bowls and cut them up making the perfect rolls into a sloppy mess.

Believe it or not, I am one of the few people in North America who grew up never having eaten a Sloppy Joe. My husband, however, remembers eating them often and enjoying them. He describes his mom using something from a can and while I am the Canned Soup Mom and never opposed to using convenience products, my sister sent me this recipe and honestly, it doesn't get much easier than this.
