Luxe Box Giveaway!

If You Love Make-up, Check This Out...

Luxe Box Giveaway!

There are certain things I love to shop for: books, shoes, sunglasses, purses, clothes, and cosmetics. My list could go on and on, but I narrowed it down just for you, okay?

Let's talk cosmetics. Make-up makes me happy because it's always the right size. You know the feeling, when you find that perfect shade of lip gloss? Or discover your signature scent? Or buy eye shadow that gives you a perfect smokey eye? All of these are valid reasons to love stepping into stores like Murale and Sephora. I could spend hours in stores like Holt Renfrew and Saks, just shopping for make-up. It's like utopia to me.

I receive an email a few weeks ago from a company called Luxe Box by Loose Button. Luxe Box is a new subscription service that delivers beauty products to your door so you can try them on in the comfort of your own home. They wanted to send me a box filled with goodies. Of course I said yes!

When I received my cute little box, I opened the tissue paper to find 4 amazing products I'd never tried before. (Each month, subscribers are mailed a Luxe Box with 3 to 5 deluxe samples inside.) It's a super affordable and fun way to receive cosmetics, right to your front door! The company chooses must-have items, by top cosmetic companies.

I received a nail polish from Essie - one of the industry's most popular professional polish brands. it's a long-lasting polish, and... inside scoop here: Kate Middleton wore Essie nail polish on her wedding day!

I also received a bottle of Proclaim Hair Oil Treatment. I used this on my dry hair the day after a blow-dry, and it took out any frizz I had, and left it super shiny. It helps repair dry, damaged hair without weighing it down and it smells good, too!

I was also sent the new fragrance by Stella called Stella in Two Peony Fragrance - a delish scent for the summer!

Last, but not least, I received a Pro Lip Liner by Trucco..

I was so excited to receive my Luxe Box, and to discover all these amazing products that I didn't even notice my children making a mess in the other room. I must say, I'm a die-hard Luxe Box fan now.

Guess what, lovely people? I have a Luxe Box to give away to you, too!

Just leave me a comment below telling me what your favourite cosmetics brand is, and I will pick a winner randomly on July 25th!

Good Luck!

Happy shopping!

LouLou's Crazy About Lulu

Workout wear you can wear every day

LouLou's Crazy About Lulu

I'm going on a diet tomorrow. I swear. Just this last piece of cheesecake, and then I'll be hitting the gym hard-core when I wake up in the morning. No more putting this off - it's now or never.

Sound familiar? It's like groundhog day for me. The amount of times I've said "I'm going on a diet, tomorrow!" could probably land me a page in the Guinness Book of World Records.

But you know what actually gets me to the gym and helps me stay on track, and work out more than just one time a year? The proper work out attire. Of course, I can bring even health and fitness back to... shopping!

Several years ago, my friends started shopping at a store called lululemon. "Lou, you have to try on their yoga pants - they'll change your life! They're SO comfortable! And they make everyone look so good! And THIN!" The next day, I went to lululemon, and bought a few pair of work out pants and a few work out tops. I was sold - I loved everything about lululemon - from the selection of pants and the fit for every type of body - to the colour selections in work out tops and the cute and very practical gym bags that for me also doubled as a diaper bag and now, a carry-on for most vacation. (Don't tell me lugging around a heavy piece of carry-on luggage isn't considered a work-out of some kind!).

The best part about shopping at lululemon is that it's a Canadian store. It was founded in Vancouver back in 1998 and originally started as a yoga studio. Well, they've come a long way, baby! Now, lululemon can be found in stores around the world, for athletes and work-out-a-holics of all kinds: yoga, running, dancing, and just about anything that causes you to sweat, including chasing after toddlers who never listen to their mother! (Ahem.)

If you're looking for something new to wear because you've sworn to yourself time and time again that this time, you'll get serious about hitting the gym, do yourself a favour and hit up your local lulu lemon. Don't worry if there is no store near you - you can always shop online at www.lululemon.com

Introducing Shop Mummy

Helping your shop in the comfort of your home

Introducing Shop Mummy

"You know that thing when you see someone cute and he smiles and your heart kind of goes like warm butter sliding down hot toast? Well that's what it's like when I see a store. Only it's better." Rebecca Bloomwood

Yes, the person I most relate to in life is a fictional character. Rebecca Bloomwood, the girl from Confessions of a Shopaholic, IS me.

But first, a little introduction:

Most of you know me already from the Shop Yummy section here on Yummy Mummy Club. By now, you're familiar with my obsession er, love, yeah, love, of everything having to do with shopping. (If you're ever looking for me, and I'm not with my kids, I can be found in a mall. Or store. Any store will do! I even love spending time in the grocery store... hello, Joe!)

Shopping and motherhood: the two things I love most in this world. I remember the first purse I owned. I was nine years old, and my purse was red. It has pockets on the front, and a big zipper. I'd wear it over my shoulders, and I would carry it with me everywhere. When I was 24, I was gifted with a new Fendi purse, and I cried, literally cried, tears of joy. Shopping make me happy and it gives me a natural high.

But I also love to write. And writing about shopping is like, the most perfect job ever for me. I've also had my fair share of fashion disasters. I've had two raw eggs crack open in my Louis Vuitton purse. I've had my son pull down my strapless dress to expose my breast to the world. I've struggled with weight loss and shopping after having a baby. I've got stories to share, and I've got advice to give!

Wearing a fabulous red strapless dress to a friend's wedding, I gave my 18 month old son a sip of my ginger-ale. (I was still a new mom, and no, I don't know what I was thinking!) He instantly threw up all over me. I rushed home and put together a second outfit in five minutes. I've also been that mom in the change room, crying and sweating over trying on swim wear. Why are the lights in those rooms so awful, anyway? I've been on a mission to find the perfect pair of jeans, and here's the thing: I'm a VERY determined shopper. I will not leave until I find what I'm looking for! No store is off-limits from me.

Not only do I love shopping for new clothes, shoes, and purses, I love shopping for patio furniture. I love shopping for home decor items. I even love shopping for groceries. (Yes, even stocking up on produce excites me.) A new mirror for the hall way, a few new books for my children, or a new LEGO set? If I leave with a bag in my hand, I’m a happy customer.

In this shop blog, I'll share with you all I know; from the essential pieces every woman's closet should have, to where I love shopping for new accessories for the home. We will be on this journey together. I'm so excited just thinking about it! If you've ever wanted to know when you should splurge—and when you should save—if you've ever wanted to know where to find the perfect LBD, and if you've ever wanted to know where to find the most adorable children's clothes, I'm here to help.

I'm your shopping super-woman! (My cape is pink, with a silver letter L, if you wanted a visual.)

Remember: shopping is always an adventure. Style is attainable. And you are all gorgeous. It's time to bring out your inner shopping diva! Oh, and a word of advice? Always keep a pair of flats in the car, for when the urge to shop strikes, you'll be prepared.

Gotta go. I just spotted the most perfect pair of shoes... I'll report back to you soon!
