How To Make These Simple DIY Chocolates

Do You Speak With A Chocolate Accent?

I enjoy easy drink recipes, quick and tasty appetizers, and simple party touches that all require very little effort. Does that make me sound lazy? I swear I’m not, but this parenting gig wears a girl down. Fatigue should never get in the way of adult play dates, so if you’re reading this blog from the prone position due to exhaustion, here’s a SIMPLE way to add a personal touch to your next get-together...

 ...CHOCOLATE ACCENTS!

I can’t conjure up an exotic accent to save my life. Any attempt sounds like a Swedish/Hindi mash-up, but I can rock a chocolate accent. Using an inexpensive alphabet mould from the Bulk Barn, I made sweet Js and Ms for a friend’s baby shower.

You can find moulds to suite any theme. Letters, baby bottles, soccer balls, flowers, you name it. I bought a phallic ice cube tray at an adult novelty store and made “Cocklates” for a Passion Party once. Go on, I dare YOU to make some and nonchalantly add them to the dessert tray at your next cock-tail party.

Chocolate initials are an easy and thoughtful touch. You can even spell out an entire message in chocolate. You could make mini chocolate martini glasses for a girls' night or chocolate lips for your Yummy Mummy friends. Party stores and the Dollar Store are great places to find unique ice cube trays that make fabulous moulds.

Whatever you make, it’s easy. Here’s how:

Buy some good quality chocolate. I like Belgian chocolate melting wafers.

Melt the chocolate in the microwave on med-low for about a minute. Stir. Repeat this process until the chocolate is fully melted.

Spoon melted chocolate into the mould. Be sure to lick the bowl. It’s best to do this at night when the kids are sleeping so you don’t have to share. Tap the mould lightly on your counter top to level the chocolate and remove air bubbles.

Put the filled mould into the freezer to cool the chocolate. About 5-10 minutes. While you wait, change your Facebook status to “Rockin’ the chocolate accent” or simply continue to lick the bowl.

Pop them out by turning the mould upside down and gently tapping the bottom. Banish your spouse from the kitchen when he gently taps YOUR bottom and tries to steal a chocolate.

Now create, decorate, and embellish your way into the hostess hall of fame.

Remember, nothing says you care more than a personal touch. Maybe the chocolate penises were too personal? My guests devoured the entire plate in seconds flat so...
