Old Navy Online Now Offering Plus Sizes

Online shopping just got more fun for curvy canadians

Old Navy Online Now Offering Plus Sizes

Shopping for plus-size clothing in Canada just got a little more interesting. Old Navy has just expanded its online sizing to include plus sizes starting at a 16W running up to 30W. To say the curvy women I know are a little excited is an understatement!

I have always managed to find clothing for myself in the stores with the lines there running up to an XXL but it's nice to know women of all sizes across Canada can shop the wider size selection now too. To find your exact sizing, make sure to refer to the online size chart. There are lots of cute finds online including several styles of jeans from boyfriend to super skinny to patterned. I know it may not sound glamourous, but I am most excited about the Knit Tees & Tops section! It is so hard to find casual, cool t-shirts and long sleeve cozy jerseys in Canada.

Here are some fab casual outfits. Love how Old Navy lets you shop the look for each one:

Something a little unexpected while roaming the new plus section...wide calf boots. Curvy calved fashionistas across Canada are rejoicing!  This is one area of fashion that has been non-existent until recently so it is nice to see this amongst the selection and under $60 as well. The site is rounded out by other great accessories including several belt styles.  Nice to see options without elastic finally!

If you are worried about shipping costs, you needn't. If you spend $50 or more, 7-8 day shipping is free. And if you are wondering when all this goodness will be coming to a store near you, I have a theory — if online plus-size sales are going to be as insane as I believe they will be, Old Navy will naturally start carrying plus sizes in its stores. So get shopping!

Say Good-bye to Sizing Labels With Custom Made Dresses

HelenJean Creates Made-to-measure dresses because you are one of a kind

Say Good-bye to Sizing Labels With Custom Made Dresses

Canadian online dress company HelenJean has a motto and it is this: You are one of a kind and your clothes should be too. Nice. The company prides itself for being able to create customized sizes for its customers based on their measurements and preferences without relying on the number on a label that will not necessarily fit all.

Here is how it works:

Pick Your Style - There are 12 styles available for $197 all with varying cuts and lengths and 3 have pockets.

Pick Your Colour - There are 12 fabulous tones from which to choose so you should find at least one that grabs your attention!

Pick Your Fabric - There are three choices available: wool polyester, wool cashmere or wool cotton.

Pick Your Intention - Yes, you get to choose the vibe of your garment! Are you feeling powerful, strong, sexy, chic or beautiful? The word you choose will replace the size number on your dress tag.

Submit Your Measurements - There are 13 measurements you will need to take so time to grab your bestie for some help!

If you need a little help with your measurements to get them just right, there is a helpful video that will lead you through the steps. After you have submitted your information, the HelenJean tailors will begin work on your customized piece and have it to you in 3 weeks. And if there are any issues, there is a $50 tailoring credit included in the purchase price of your dress.

Here's what I am wondering...would it look funny if I ordered a dress with all the labels on the back? Every woman deserves a powerful/strong/sexy/chic/beautiful dress....

Model Robyn Lawley Creates Swimwear Line for Curves

Swimsuits that function and flatter

Model Robyn Lawley Creates Swimwear Line for Curves

If you're like me, you've seen countless swimwear reports this summer claiming the perfect fit for all body types. And then, ahem, the suits often have the same cut and are always shown on the same body type — ultra thin. How is the average woman to relate? I want to see a variety of styles to flatter many figures — slim, curvy, tall, petite, you name it — and know the designer behind the brand has taken our wonderful differences into consideration too. Enter model Robyn Lawley who at 6'2" and a size 12, has taken the modelling world by storm and can now add swimwear designer to the list.

An active swimmer and a model who has worn every bathing suit style under the sun, the 24-year-old Australian was uninspired by the styles available for curvier women. She also found most styles did not support her bust while swimming and the bottoms didn't come high enough to flatter the stomach area. She decided to create a line that is both stylish and functional. Eight styles are currently available in sizes 8-18 and Lawley aims to increase the size range to include bigger and smaller sizes soon.

The new line of swimsuits will be available at the end of August, when summer is practically over in the U.S. but the weather starts to warm up in Robyn Lawley's home country of Australia.

Bathing suits don't fall into the one-style-flatters-all category, which is why model Robyn Lawley designed a line specifically for fuller-figured women.

I love the thought put into the pieces like the Cosmic Libra Adjustable Bikini with its adjustable straps as well as a draw cord that allows the waist to be folded down and adjusted to any desired height. The bottoms being lined with powermesh is a nice bonus feature as well. Aiming to launch in time for Australian summer, the suits are available for pre-order in North America through Madison Plus Select with expected shipping to take place at the end of August. Prices range from $140-$199. Madison Plus Select owner Aimee Cheshire has been bowled over by the positive response to the line and can't wait to get the orders out soon. Looking forward to more designs from down under.
