If you’re like me, you’re using the precious moments between tantrums, gum removal, and diaper changes to keep in touch with friends via your smart phone. But, as we all know keeping up with Twitter and Facebook can be annoying if you’re logging into both apps to check the latest with your tweeps and peeps. I just don’t have time to keep track of all my social feeds by logging into multiple apps.
Enter Social Scope.
Social Scope allows you to connect to your Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare and Flickr feeds all from within one app from your smart phone. Cool eh?
The Download
The app download is simple. Just go to www.getsocialscope.com from the browser on your device. It’s not a huge download, but I always suggest switching on your wifi if you have it. This will help reduce your cell bill by downloading the app over your home wifi network instead of the cell network.
The Setup
When you start up the app, the account setup process is really easy (as long as you remember your usernames and passwords – this, of course was my problem). You setup your accounts 1-by-1, and it actually supports multiple accounts which is great for super nerds like me who run 2 twitter accounts (we’ll get into why in a future post.)
The App
Once inside the app you’ll see some great features.
1. Status Updates – Update your status to Facebook and Twitter at the same time.
2. Photo Uploads – Upload photos from your phone to both Twitter and Facebook.
3. Mute – You can use the mute function to hide status updates from certain people for a period of time or forever.
4. Tabs – Another one of my favourite features. Say you search for #YMCOscars. SocialScope will prompt to ask you if you’d like to save it to a ‘tab’. All status updates with that text (#YMCOscars) will now appear on that special tab within the app. You can also add specific people to groups, and view them on tabs.
Final Words
I could write all day, but I’ll sum it up in 6 points:
Pros
• Works on wifi;
• Supports multiple accounts;
• Ability to mute people;
• Tabs!
Cons
• Still in Beta (C’mon guys!)
• I miss some of my Facebook replies (beta issue).
If you’re interested in getting into SocialScope, it is still in beta, but I’m trying to get us a few Beta invites to hand out. Touch base with me on Twitter and I’ll see what I can do!
See you on the twit-side!
Editor's Note: Yes I *did* notice that Krista chose to put me on mute. I put her blog up anyway.
