A lot of my fellow bloggers are heading to BlogHer in San Diego, California for the next few days. In fact, my twitter feed has been filled with anxious friends trying to figure out what to pack! And while I sit back here in Canada, wishing I was one of the lucky gals in attendance, I will live vicariously through them all.
That doesn’t mean I can’t be somewhat helpful though, and tell you if you’re heading to the conference and still packing, make sure you pack your smart phone because last week, BlogHer released an app that will make your conference experience organized, and stress free.
The first things you'll notice when you download the app are that it's easy to navigate, it works on wifi or your cell network, and it stores your data directly on your phone so you don't need to worry about the annoying 'Conference Hall Cell drop.'
It allows you to search through the schedule of conference sessions by day, track or speaker, and add them to your own personal schedule so you can easily see where you need to be at any given time. If you’re like me and spend the majority of any conference you go to trying to figure out exactly where you are supposed to be for the next talk, no worries, the app has a handy interactive map of the conference area.
When you get to a session, the app also has a QR code reader that will allow you to check into the session, or scan and view information about session sponsors.
If you’re at BlogHer for networking, and you're interested in announcing your presence at the conference to other app users, it has a handy (and completely opt-in) ‘Contacts’ function that lets you enter your contact information, so if another lucky attendee wants to know if you‘re there, they can find you easily. The app even lets you add other user’s information to your personal contact list in your phone so when you leave you’ve got all the info handy as well – networking at its easiest!
So, if you’re sitting in the airport right now, or even on the plane on your way to BlogHer, download the app and get yourself organized. It’s a great way to make sure you have even more free time at BlogHer to enjoy the conference.
