Entourage – The Final Season premiered last night and all of twitter was buzzing with excitement. And I must admit - I was too. I’ve watched Entourage from the start and I love all the characters and last season things got too stupid for that to be the end of it.
This morning, the 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards nominations were announced and some of my most favourite programs are nominated for multiple awards. My new HBO obsession Game of Thrones was nominated for 13 Emmy’s including a Best Actor nod for the awesome Peter Dinklage and Best Drama Series.
A few days ago while on Facebook I saw some pictures posted on our local Daytime Ottawa talk show page. Daytime Ottawa is hosted by the awesome duo of TL Rader and Derick Fage and the pictures were of various guest hosts who had filled in. As soon as I saw them I immediately emailed the show producer Erin Lannan and offered my services should they ever need a future guest host.
Do you ever sit down to watch one of your kids’ animated movies and play that game where you try to figure out who’s voicing each character? You know it’s someone famous but you just can’t quite put your finger on it? And when you just can’t take it anymore, you reach for your laptop and hit IMDB.com to figure out whose voice you’ve been listening to before it drives you crazy? I do.
Last week I was asked if I would like to attend the premiere of the new Winnie the Pooh movie and I was pretty happy. I mean I get to go to a lot of the new animated features and my kids love them, but my youngest is normally left being tagged along. He loves the movies, but a lot of the story goes over his little 3-year old head. When I got the Winnie invite I was so happy that I was going to take just him to the movie and have a great old Mother/Son bonding moment.
Big Brother 13 kicked off last night and given that it’s my all time favourite reality show, I sat down eager for it to begin. The first episode is where we get the formalities of meeting the new cast out of the way so it’s always a bit hard to judge if it will be a good season or not. It isn’t until a few days in the house that we actually get to see what everyone is really like and if they have any game or not.
Last week marked the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s first official trip to Canada, and as luck would have it they visited Ottawa, where I live! Of course the city was electric with excitement over news of the visit, and as William and Kate touched down in Ottawa, crowds had gathered by the thousands to greet them. Unfortunately, that was also the last day of school for my kids, so I chose to stay home and read all about the trip instead of dragging my children out amongst the masses to catch a glimpse.
Celebrities and the paparazzi – they kind of go hand in hand, don’t they? But what also goes hand in hand are celebrities complaining about the paparazzi. Let’s not forget just a few weeks ago when Tori Spelling ‘crashed’ her car into a wall while speeding away from pursuing paparazzi (please, please, please, read as much sarcasm into that statement as you possibly can) and then tweeted about it basically comparing herself to Princess Diana.
So by now I’m sure you’ve heard about how 51-year old actor Doug Hutchison – best known for his role in The Green Mile and TV’s LOST – has gone and gotten himself married. To a 16-year old girl. Ew.
Now before you insist this can’t be legal and must be some kind of perverted mistake – understand that it is perfectly legal, and was done with the consent of his new bride’s parents.
If you have kids, there is no doubt you know that Cars 2 hits theatres next week! Cars is one of my favourite animated movies and I think I’m looking forward to sequel as much as my kids. The fact that I get to listen to Owen Wilson’s voice throughout the entire movie is just a plus :) Check out the trailer for the new movie below.
Recently I was sent the screeners for two new shows that are going to be airing on Slice starting tonight. The first was a reality show called Brides of Beverly Hills and the second was Tori & Dean sTORIbook Weddings. I thought I would give ‘Brides’ a shot because I’m all about reality shows, and I also have a pretty big distaste for Tori Spelling ever since she trashed Dean McDermott’s ex-wife at the MMVA’s a few years ago so I really had no intention of watching her show.
A little while ago while watching TV I saw a commercial for the movie I Am Number Four. Now this movie didn’t last in theatres for too long and was basically pretty forgettable, but I always remember seeing the preview because the song that played during the commercial was so memorable. That song was Rolling in the Deep by Adele, who is pretty much the most talked about artist of the year, as is that song. So while the movie looked just ok, every time I hear that song it reminds me of the movie.
If you haven't watched The Bachelorette stop reading now to avoid spoilers. OK I admit – I don’t watch The Bachelorette or the The Bachelor. I have watched in the past but I think that once you get to the 15th version of a ‘reality’ show it’s time to put it away because the formula is so predictable that there’s no more reality to be found. If I wanted to watch a bunch of horny lovesick singles hooking up I’ll watch Gossip Girl.
A long time ago – before she was J-Lo, Jennifer Lopez was married to a dude named Ojani Noa. Then the movie Selena came out and Jennifer became a big star and she and Noa ultimately divorced. Things were pretty amicable because even when Jennifer opened her restaurant Madres,Ojani was hired to manage it. Things eventually went south and ended up with Lopez firing Noa thus causing some bad blood.
I received a screener for a new show called Pregnant in Heels and I was intrigued, mostly because the title really didn’t tell me what to expect about the show so I had to watch to find out for myself.
Yesterday was Oprah Winfrey’s last episode ever of her iconic daytime talk show and instead of making it the star studded extravaganza that was the previous 2 episodes, the legend decided that for her final show it would be just her and her audience.
Cartoons have certainly come a long way from when we were kids. Nowadays anything and everything is animated using state of the art computer graphics, and almost always there’s a moral to the story or a valuable lesson to be learned. Political Correctness has invaded our children’s programming to the point where the cartoons we watched as kids are almost non-existent today. While I have no problem with it, I think that constantly trying to deliver a ‘message’ sometimes takes the pure fun away from television.
Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga starred in the season finale of Saturday Night Live this past weekend with JT performing hosting duties while Gaga signed on as musical guest. A stellar line up that’s for sure. Rarely do I watch SNL but I made a point of staying up so I could catch the show knowing that’s what everyone would be talking about the next day.
