Guys, I'm not sure I understand life anymore. I certainly don't understand other people's choices in many things, but word is that Tori Spelling spent $6,000 on her daughter Stella's 6th birthday party this week, and blogged each and every single detail which leads me to believe that the $6k spent was on top of freebies.
So, have you missed me? Don't know if you've noticed but I've been a bit absent as of late, and for that I apologize. My beloved mother in law, Leah, passed away suddenly after a very short illness, and our family has been sent reeling. My kids have neither of their grandmothers thanks to cancer, and at such a young age, we're particularly devastated. Life goes on, especially when you have small kids.
But, sadly, Henry is confused and angry and so I'm looking for a teachable moment we can share.
Disney's Frozen was a runaway hit this winter with kids and parents alike, and Disney has done something usually only reserved for classic movies—they are re-releasing it in theatres. But they aren't just re-releasing it, they're making it a sing-along!
I was a theatre geek in high school. I directed school plays, I went to arts camp, the works. But beyond school-sanctioned extra-curriculars, there wasn't a lot of programming for kids like me who were interested in theatre. There were plenty of arts programs, but not so much theatre-specific.
For those into this sort of thing, Fan Expo Canada happened a few weeks ago (more on this year's Expo in coming weeks), and one of the things that drew me in was the new Mattel produced show — Max Steel. The show is a multi-platform show for kids which uses cool CGI, online content, games and the like to immerse kids in the high-stakes world of the titular star.
So, this has been a big year of firsts for us. I took Henry to his first live theatre, his first movie, and we, as a family, went to Riot Fest a few weeks ago in Toronto. This was a two-day, outdoor festival.
Ok, I'll be totally honest. I was never really a HUGE fan of The Wiggles. At least not the way that Henry seems to be. Then, in the last year, three of the original (classic) Wiggles left the performance aspect and three new Wiggles joined. Emma, Symon, and Lachy join Anthony for a new CD, DVD and tour all called Taking Off with new songs, music and dance for all the wiggly kids who love them.
