Emmy Wraps for 2012

Boring show with a few surprises

Emmy Wraps for 2012

Friends. I have the plague. First the boy had it, now I do. But I still managed to catch a good chunk of the Emmys (after my stylist coloured my hair purple). When I finally tuned in, it seemed BORING.

Just me? Didn't think so. The dresses were lovely, though I thought Sophia Vergara looked like Charo 2.0. My fave, like Ali's was Ginnifer Goodwin (though major shoutout to the bright yellowy greens especially Julianne Moore). The winners? Eh. Homeland was the big winner in the drama category last night which makes me wonder - should I bother watching this show? It never appealed to me, possibly because I'm not American?

I really REALLY thought that this was Breaking Bad's year and, I'll be honest, I was very surprised that the only winner from the cast was Aaron Paul. The last two seasons have been some of the best television I've ever watched. And even with my love of Game of Thrones, I think the show is lacking (and yet, I still watch) so, no surprises that they didn't take anything major away this year.

The win for best comedy for Modern Family was really nice to see—it's a great family with mixed ethnicities, mixed sexual orientation, and kids done in a way that actually does speak to families everywhere. Julie Bowen and Eric Stonestreet winning in their categories, too, was a nice thing to see.

I was also really glad to see Julia Louis-Dreyfus win for Veep, because she deserves all the awards. Always. And Louis C.K winning TWO awards? If you guys haven't checked him out, you really need to.

The best best BEST part of the night, though? Michael J. Fox! He looks great, sounds great, and I can't wait to check out his new show, about a dad with Parkinson's due in 2013.

So, spill it! What did you guys think of the Emmys last night? Should I bother watching Homeland? There's just so much damned TV I'm already trying to get through as it is!

The 2012 Emmy Awards are THIS Sunday

Watch along with us!

The 2012 Emmy Awards are THIS Sunday

Ah the Emmys. Television's finest. I wrote all about some of the standout nominees earlier in the summer, but the big night is upon us this Sunday, September 23!

This year's awards are being hosted by Mr. Jimmy Kimmel, so there's probably going to be some questionable antics but I'm most excited for the unpredictable stuff—what everyone is wearing and who says what when they win (if they win!).

The cast of Mad Men always looks exceptional and while I'm sure they'll receive accolades, this is Breaking Bad's year. I can feel it in my bones.

But, like many things I "believe to be true" (Matt calls them "KatFacts"—things that are probably wrong, but I like to tell myself are right), anything could happen at a live awards show, and I'd love it if you joined in the twitter chat with us live on Sunday.

Erica and Eileen will start us off with the red carpet at 6:00pm EST/3:00pm PST and as soon as I get in from my "crazy, busy Sunday" and settle on the couch with my girlfriends, we'll be joining with you. Just use #YMCEmmys and follow along!

And here's our official printable YMC list of the major nominees for this Sunday's telecast. And in case you don't know my twitter handle, you can follow me @kitten_arms.

See you on the red carpet!

Duchess Kate Nude on Film

Who is to blame; the paps or the royal couple?

Duchess Kate Nude on Film

So, by now, I'm sure you've all heard about the photos snapped of a topless Catherine Middleton while at a private (and secluded) home on vacation in France. They were published by some French publications as well as an Irish one. The Royal family was enraged. They argue that the privacy of the young couple should be respected and that the private home at which they were staying was almost half a kilometer from the road where the photogs were hiding in the bushes (gross).

I completely and totally understand their desire for privacy (I keep saying "priv-assy" in my head like a royal), especially in light of the awful way William's mother was killed 15 years ago but I'm not sure that she should be going topless at all if they don't want leaked photos of her to come out.

I know, this may sound strange especially from a full-on Windsor-phile like myself. HOWEVER, being in the public eye the way the young couple are, the fact that she will one day be Queen and the fact that the British Royals are famous the world over just for being born into the right family make them easy, sellable and exciting tabloid fodder. The tabs will go to any lengths (including hiding in bushes 500 meters away) to get top-secret shots of the young couple.

Do I think the photographer had a right to take and sell these photos that are CLEARLY a violation? No. Not at all.

But, do I think that if someone is afraid of having their privacy (priv-assy) violated, they maybe shouldn't be topless on a terrace someplace.

And just to be clear, I have no problem with topless sunbathing. Boobs rule!

So spill it! What do you think of these recent photos? Can someone take the blame?
