IE and Lionsgate Bring You Hunger Games Explorer

A safe online browser for all things Katniss Everdeen

With all the craziness going on these days, it's hard to be able to control what our kids are being exposed to online. They have to sift through a lot of the stuff we'd rather they not see — especially tweens and teens with the ability to surf online without mum and dad looking over their shoulder, or locking down the computer. And this past weekend, Lionsgate films released the new trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire during the MTV Movie awards.

This is the kind of thing that can be exciting for teens and scary for parents. I mean, you want to allow your kids to explore and search for their favourite movie and get excited about the books that they love. But with tragedy, comes loonies who post all sorts of non-child-friendly content online.

Something Microsoft has done though, is pretty exceptional. Working with Lionsgate, they've created The Hunger Games Explorer and I feel like it's arrived just in time. The fully interactive website is optimized for tablet browsing and includes studio updates including costumes, sets and all official Catching Fire online content while also aggregating everything floating around Facebook, Google+, Twitter and YouTube in one safe, easy to access place.

The site is fully customizable, and you know that your kids aren't going to go wandering through someone's wildly inappropriate or scary posts, photos and videos bringing up questions you might not have the answer to. This way, you don't have to restrict online time while letting them get fully immersed in the world of Katniss, Peeta, Gale and all the rest, while keeping them kids a little while longer.

The Hunger Games Explorer is available for free and can be found at www.thehungergamesexplorer.com.

So, spill it! Will you let your kids get immersed in the world of Katniss Everdeen using The Hunger Games Explorer?
