My family is nuts about the Olympics. Doesn't matter if it's the winter or summer games, every event we’re interested in always has to be watched live.
We’re crazy that way.
Watching live was fine in 2010 when the Winter Olympics were actually here in Vancouver and we were in the same time zone. Even in 2012 when they were in England, the 8-hour time difference was manageable.
By the way, Canadian/English trifle is perfectly acceptable for breakfast on just such an occasion.
Once upon a time, this used to be me when a new gadget, gizmo, or in this case, iPhone/iOS came out:
"I MUST HAVE IT FOR MYSELF AND BE THE VERY FIRST PERSON IN THE WORLD TO HAVE THIS AMAZING NEW THING!"
It took a while, but I’ve learned my lesson.
Along with the iPhone 5S and 5c, iOS7 was released last week, and I’ve been really quiet about it. Why? Because I waited this long to download it and give it a test run.
School’s out for summer, but that doesn’t mean kids have to stop learning. (This is where my kids start frowning at me and say that I am evil)
What I love about apps is that there are so many awesome ones now that capture kids’ imagination while actually teaching them something at the same time. Truth be told, I’m one of those grown ups that secretly “plays” on some of my kids’ apps to sharpen my little grey cells. Can’t let the kids get ahead of me in the brain game, but they usually are!
Last week I was introduced to a very cool new photo app called “Days.” Days is a visual diary app — something that you can use to share moments in your day.
According to their description on iTunes, “Days is the most natural, authentic, and casual way to capture and share your life. Keep your days private or share them with friends and family.”
Sometimes everything comes at you at once, like a perfect storm of stress. Parenting, work, life, kids, and even mundane little things like tasks to do around the house can get to a person sometimes, especially after a crazy holiday season like Christmas.
The other day I ordered a pizza and when they asked me for my name, I spelled it wrong.
There’s just no such thing as a bad day when Apple has a product unveiling. Ever.
Yesterday the iPhone 5 was announced to an enormous gathering of like-minded geeks & tech junkies consumers in San Francisco. Being the Mac-head that I am, this was the kind of day that fell into the “We must get a cake” category. As in, “How was your day, kids? A new iPhone was unveiled today. Here, have some cake.”
The kids love it when technology news makes Mummy happy.
