Reddit user digitalgecko recently posted a thread about his website, NameMyDaughter.com—a site he started to basically crowd source baby names.
On his website, he explains:
“Hi, My name is Stephen and much to the disbelief of my wife, I have decided to let the internet name* my daughter. Yeah that is an asterisk, Unfortunately internet I know better than to trust you. We will ultimately be making the final decision, Alas my daughter shall not be named WackyTaco692. Sorry guys the wife wouldn't go for a free for all. Inappropriate submissions may be removed -- Yeah looking at you Graeme. You know what you did.”
People can vote on a list of name submissions for first and middle names, or submit their own.
At time of writing, the leading choice for the baby’s name was Cthulhu All-Spark, with a combined total of almost 160,000 votes.
Okay then . . .
I guess it’s a good thing he put that little *disclaimer on the website.
Personally, my favourite combination of names was Doctor InTheFlesh McLaughlin. I can’t say that without laughing.
McLaughlin’s baby daughter is due on April 2nd—let’s hope he chooses a name for his little girl that will have just a tad more meaning and thought behind it than Alaska FromTheBlock.
How did you decide your baby’s name? Would you ever consider doing something like this to crowd-source a name?
