I'm pretty sure my screams of delight could be heard all over the surrounding suburbs when I found out that David Gray was coming to Ottawa for Bluesfest on July 6th. I loveth this singer/songwriter I do. Like a lot. A lot.
So it was fitting that I did a little walk down blog memory lane and re-post a blog that I wrote about my very first David Gray concert experience. It was as the kids say - EPIC.
The Backstreet Boys are celebrating 19 years in the music biz...crazy right?
Today one of the trending hashtags on Twitter is #BSB19thAnniversary—it's all about sharing the BSB love and memories.
When the boys first came out I was...let's do the math...I was 20. Eeeek. Seriously where does the time go? And in a shocking development I was crushing on AJ. It's the bad boy thing—what can I say? He was my Donnie Wahlberg for that boy band. Hey at least I'm consistent damn it!
Twitter: @RyanSeacrest "I am deeply saddened by the loss of my dear friend Dick Clark. He has truly been one of the greatest influences in my life."
Legendary television producer and TV host Dick Clark died earlier today in a Los Angeles hospital of a heart attack. He was 82.
Dick Clark was TV. He was everywhere—more notably for TV shows like American Bandstand, TV Bloopers, all those game shows (I was addicted to Pyramid) and of course New Year's Rockin' Eve.
Today on the Bsides, we spotlight a new band hailing from Canada, by the name of Cygnets.
Having shared the stage with acts, such as You Say Party! We Say Die! and Shout Out Out Out Out, they are definitely a group that has been drawing attention.
So, apparently March is the month for vasectomies.
Really. I've heard more about vasectomies in the last few weeks than I have all year. With that said, I've had friends, YMC readers, and Twitter followers ask me about the Songs for A Vasectomy playlist I did two years ago.
So, I'm still not even remotely tired of Gavin DeGraw's "Not Over You" single yet (really, if you haven't heard it, go forth and download from iTunes immediately!), but I must say that I have become completely obsessed with his new single, "Sweeter."
So damn sexy sounding. I've had it on repeat for the last, oh let's see, three hours. True story.
It’s that blend of retro pop soul that we’ve come to know and love from artists like Amy Winehouse, Duffy and Janelle Monae and it’s fun, upbeat and ridiculous catchy.
Like dance around the room with a hairbrush in your hand and lip synching to the songs catchy. Yes I so totally did that.
Hot off the heels of a cross-Canada theatre tour with Treehouse LIVE, cutting-edge children's performers, Splash'N Boots, are nominated for the SiriusXM Indie Awards' prestigious title of 2012 Children's Group of the Year.
“She’s ready to seduce America (literally) with her sultry, hypnotizing sound.”- NYLON
“There are names often invoked for an artist in the line - Patti Smith, Kate Bush, PJ Harvey – and Cornelius manages to be a beguiling combination of all three.”- ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE
Teeth & Tongue is New Zealand born, Melbourne based musician Jess Cornelius.
So two weeks ago I received this email from Family Records:
“Today we launched a fun web series featuring one of our artists, Matt Singer, and the co-star of his upcoming music video "All This Joy," a squirrel puppet called Martin.
So every now and then you come across someone with so much talent that you have to do a double take...or in the case of Amanda Nantsios, a double listen.
So a few weeks ago I retweeted one @realshawnisaac on Twitter. Why? He just happened to tweet my new favourite go-to curse word. You know for those times you can't think of anything else to say and you're completely frustrated and you need that one word. That. The word is a combo of three words—and it's my new go-to word. It's the multi-purpose word. Genius really.
So on Monday Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez and Ashley Tisdale and friends released a video of them dancing around and lip synching along to Carly Rae Jepsen's 'Call Me Maybe.'
Maybe it’s because the day of required love...AKA Valentine’s Day is just around the corner (ahem tomorrow—considered yourself warned) but over the course of the weekend I had a few conversations about song lyrics and the ones that stand out and really get to your inner core.
The ones that repeat over and over in your head and give you shivers each and every time you hear them.
