Music Video Games

Combining Music and Gaming

Music Video Games

If you are looking for music related video games for gifts this Christmas for your teens, be sure to check out Guitar Hero 5, Lego Rock Band, Beatles Rock Band and DJ Hero.

The great thing about these games is that they appeal to the guys and the girls on your list and parents will get a kick out of them too. Play these games together and you'll have great family fun while bonding over everything music.

Some of my faves include...

DJ Hero 2

Games involving rock bands and musical instruments have been popular for a while now, but the makers of Guitar Hero decided to create a new music game for those with slightly different tastes. DJ Hero 2 is the latest version of the game and includes a new freestyle sections which allows you to change your mixes each time you play.

Some of the new artists added to this version of the game include:
*Dr Dre,
* Kanye West,
* Lady Gaga,
* Chemical Brothers

Rockband 3

Rockband 3 comes with a huge number of songs which means it’s perfect for keeping kids and teens entertained and to stop them getting bored quickly. It’s also compatible with previous Rockband Games [Rock Band and Rock Band 2 discs, downloaded songs, track packs, AC/DC Live: Rock Band™ Track Pack, LEGO® Rock Band and Green Day: Rock Band™]. Players will have access to 2,000 songs to purchase, with more being added all the time).

The songs cover a number of genres, from pop to rock, jazz and reggae. Some of the songs that you receive are:
* Amy Winehouse, “Rehab”
* Bob Marley, “Get Up Stand Up”
* Elton John, “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting”
* HIM (His Infernal Majesty), “Killing Loneliness”
* Huey Lewis and the News, “The Power of Love”
* John Lennon, “Imagine”
* Ozzy Osbourne, “Crazy Train”
* Queen, “Bohemian Rhapsody”
* Slipknot, “Before I Forget”
* T. Rex, “20th Century Boy”
* The Cure, “Just Like Heaven”
* Them Crooked Vultures, “Dead End Friends”
* Whitesnake, “Here I Go Again”

Lego Rock Band

Lego Rock Band is all about building up that rock and roll fame LEGO style. It's a music video game and part of the Rock Band series that incorporates elements from other Lego video games. The game, as with other games in the Rock Band series, allows up to four players to use instrument controllers to play lead and bass guitar, drums, and vocals on a number of rock music songs. Players are able to customize their avatars and other band assistants, and include additional Lego-themed gameplay modes (LEGO® Themed Rock Challenges: Play killer riffs to destroy a giant robot, summon a storm to demolish a skyscraper using the power of rock).
