Back it Up! 3 Easy Ways To Save Computer Files NOW

Back That Thing Up!

We prepare for almost every bad scenario in our lives these days. Car insurance. Home insurance. Health insurance. Dental. Yet, for some reason, I often hear stories from friends and acquaintances who lost all of their precious photos, articles, or even much needed information due to equipment failure, technological glitches, and mother nature.

We all know we should be backing up our files regularly, but just like with most things these days, if we can't automate it, it's probably not getting done, is it? Think about everything stored on your computer right now. Do you have copies of them anywhere else? How would you feel if they disappeared in a second with no hope of coming back?

Yeah, it'd be a pretty big bummer, wouldn't it?

So for that reason and more, here are Three Ways You Can Back Up Your Files Today:

1. Put It In The Cloud (Google Drive, iCloud, Dropbox, etc.)

Although having a hard copy of every picture and important file would be nice, it seems impractical these days. There are a variety of services available to us now at incredibly low costs, or even free, like with Google Drive. The only thing better than having a safe place to put all of your most treasured memories and information is having a place to put it that you can access from anywhere!

2. Store It In An External Hard Drive

When it comes to computers, they really do come in all shapes and sizes these days. You can get one that has more storage than you could ever need, or you can get one that is as light and airy as they come. Adding an external or portable hard drive to your tech haul is a great way to ensure your files are kept safe at all times.

3. Burn It On A DVD

Maybe it's a more "old school" solution to the problem, but saving important documents and photos to a DVD ensures that no matter what might happen to your hardware over the years, you'll always be able to access those files that are most important to you. Sure you'll have to carry around one of those ugly DVD cases from time to time, but it'll be so worth it to see those pics of your daughter from her first day of kindergarten again down the road.

If you really want to protect yourself and your precious files, do all three! What do you think is the best way to store your most precious pictures and memories?
