Tween Girl Birthday Party Ideas

Too Old For This, Too Young For That...What To Do?

Birthdays for tween girls can be tough.  They are past princess parties, but yet, too young for rock concerts. So what's the right fit for celebrating the early double digits?  I have a few tips for tween girls' birthday parties.

Babysitters Club - Whether they have signed up for the babysitting course, or starting out on their babysitting career, "babysitting" can be an easy theme for a tween girl party.

• Have each girl bring a doll and then you can:

• Play "baby scavenger hunt" finding baby items around the yard or house

• Play "what's in the diaper" blindfolding kids and putting their hands in cups of pudding and cream of corn.

• Play "baby obstacle course" balancing an egg & spoon in one hand and doll in other have them run an obstacle course without dropping baby nor egg.

(NOTE: The Babysitters Club movie is an obvious choice for movie watching but when I looked up the trailer on YouTube, I found there was a sub-plot romance of a 13 year old girl and 17 year old boy. )

I just threw a "babysitters club" party for my tween this past weekend and it was a hit.

Other tween girl themes include:

Nancy Drew Girl Detective - a whole party of who/what/how sleuthing.

• Come up with a mystery to be solved.  Scavenger Hunt.  Clues.  Roadblocks and surprises make up for a fun party.

Halloween not in October - have the kids dress in costume in May (or February).

• Play all the regular "Halloween" type games you play, but out of season.  Do a haunted house.  Play creepy music.
