The waiting time for our delivery guy was 8am-5pm (seriously?! what kind of modern day business has a full-day-wait-window?!). Anytime between 8am and 5pm he would arrive. No he wouldn't call an hour before showing up to confirm...he'd just be there...sometime...during the day. So the kids and I were chained to the house. What do you do to entertain the kids while you wait for the delivery guy?...
Of all the awesome activities I can recommend for kids this summer, joining the TD Summer Reading Club is high on the list. It’s a summer tradition in our family.
"What is it?" you ask.
The simple answer is this: it's a fantastic free activity that encourages reading and entertains kids.
I used to laugh at my mom friends who had their boys running them in circles. "Just give them some paper and a box of crayons" I would advise with my Activity Mummy expertise. It wasn't until I had a boy (after two girls) that I realized how delusional this advice was...boys don't sit still. Ever. Boys VS Girls—is it nature or nurture?
O Canada! Let's stand on guard for thee and fill our holiday weekend with fun Canada Day themed activities for the whole family. Ready. Set. Time to get your Canuck on!
Find Canada on a globe (or map). What country is it on top of? What water is beside it? If you were to travel from France to Canada how would you go?
Nothing says summer like ice cream (just ask the girl who runs the ice cream shop in our 'hood - she knows my face well). So this week, our activity is to make some homemade ice cream...and I mean having the kids make it. Here's the scoop:
You'll need
2 x Ziploc bags (1 small 1 big)
1 cup of half & half cream
2 tbsp of white sugar
Splash of vanilla
Ice cubes
1/2 cup of salt (kosher, rock salt or regular ol' table salt)
